I finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a few days ago, and although I've seen a number of people claim that they're disappointed that the book, to them, has gone down hill, I was really pleased with it. ^_^ For once, more questions are answered than asked! I'll go into more detail under an lj-cut so's not to spoil anyone who hasn ( Read more... )

You share most of my opinions. I'm a little surprised that so many people didn't like HBP. I think they must be the types who appreciate the setting and universe Harry Potter is about more than the plot? Not sure. It just seems like this book had so much plot and action!

I agree especially about Tonks and Lupin. Even though I didn't like how their feelings were 'outed,' Lupin needs someone. He's always gotten the short end of the stick because he's a werewolf, his friends either dying or being traitors, etc. Plus even when they were younger, there wasn't a lot of trust going around. Sirius suspected Lupin of being a DE. That's pretty cold. lol He needs something. I suspected Tonks was made for that purpose when Sirius died in OotP. She was the only single eligible female of the Order...

All the Snape stuff is incredibly suspicious. And like others have stated--through the whole book, it was as if Dumbledore was tying up loose ends. It'd be boring if Harry was right about Snape, it'd confirm his original prejudices.

I can't imagine why they don't like it, honestly... I mean, there might have been some stuff that was obvious to figure out but only because it's been hinted at for so long (ie: Ron x Hermione, Harry x Ginny)... either that, or we'd have to deal with it sooner or later (ie: Snape's loyalty). I liked the fact that it answered so many questions but still had an air of mystery about it. XD ( ... )

XD Im shocked but not necessarily surprised that some people didn't like the book. I'm really glad you liked it too. I'm so satisfied with how it played out and ended. I'm not dying for book 7, but I do look forward to an awesome read ( ... )
