Which, for thoroughly unrelated reasons, I'd had stuck in my head for a good part of the previous week.

Likewise on seeing posts. One of these days I'll figure out how to reconcile grad-student busy-ness with being a semi-decent correspondent. I must have three or four letters to various people simmering in the back parts of my brain, and boiling up just when I really should be reading or grading or actually working.

Not, of course, that I was an exemplary correspondent before I returned to grad student life....
