There's also some good pictures here:

(but all black & white).

That's too cool, now I'm off a google-ing to see what cool stuff I can find. I always love finding something new to look up. :)

So, are you planning on wearing the robe, as well as the collar? I could even picture you in the spiffy hat. :) I love the red & gold one, but I think the short ones would be less likely to make you die from the heat of June fair.

Have you thought much about your vigil? Will you have a vigil tent on Friday night, with any specific ceremony to it?

The collar, red hat, and long mantle are described in the statutes. I'm definitely going to do hat and mantle. countess-e and I still have to have a discussion about how many underlayers are sane/affordable/possible in limited time/etc. (the maximum would be the feminine version of houppelande, with kirtle & shift underneath, speaking of dying of heat . . .) Similarly, glasseye and I have to talk about how sane it would be to make a collar, what it would look like, etc.

Have you seen this one?

We'll have to get you a minion with a fan so you don't pass out.

I'd be happy to help with any of the sewing and pattern drafting stuff (and of course, FOOD), but so far 90% of my casting experience has been pewter.

About vigil stuff-- I'm leaning more toward party with period food (ideally, Saturday night, since household people will be driving up from the 3M area). People are already knights in the order stuff I'm looking at, so there is not much about formal vigils.

Interesting that there is that one picture where the Golden Fleece is on a chain that is *not* a collar of firesteels. Hm.

You need help with clothing? I can help! OMG what kind of hat were you thinking off? A cute truncated hennin? Maybe a pretty bourrelete?

Maybe, um, maybe I could MAKE you a hat! And... ship it to you. But I could! If there's time!

Well, I was thinking a chaperon, because it is in the statutes ("Chapperons d'escarlatte"), and kind of works for women too, yay.

Do you have ideas about shoes? I am thinking it might be time to, y'know, buy some period ones.

I have a pair of the historic enterprises cobbled shoes and they pass pretty well. I had a pair of real, authentic turn-shoes made by a dude at Pennsic one year, but I actually /lost/ them. I am that pathetic.

Houpelondes with wool kirtles underneath are perfectly acceptable attire for hot June days. ;) Okay... so no, they're not, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Natural fibers breathe and all that ;)

Mind you, June in An Tir near the water is going to be nothing compared with June for you guys. I mean, it might be as much as 80 degrees, and not humid.
