This is the first recreational reading I've done in three months, so I may have enjoyed it regardless of actual quality. But it was an entertaining read. It did feel strangely poorly plotted, though, like she kept writing herself into corners.

i took such joy in figuring out each little section, that i think i liked the book more than i should have. like the things that appealed to me weren't exactly signs of quality writing or storytelling; they were the things i enjoy about doing a crossword puzzle. it's very early. i'm not sure i'm being cogent.

I've been meaning to watch Sweeney Todd. How did you like it? On a forum I frequent, one of the other members posted some hilariously negative impressions about it. Apparently, he had no idea what the movie was about going in, never heard of Sweeney Todd, and was completely aghast at the number of slit throats.

The moniker "Demon Barber of Fleet Street" apparently never set off any warning bells for him.

It was pretty much what I expected. The pacing seemed a little hurried- maybe as a result of compacting a three-hour musical into a two-hour movie? Two hours well spent, but I wouldn't go again any time soon. And yes, it's pretty gory in places.

Sounds like heaven. :)

We're going to see Sweeney Todd tomorrow before bowling. Did you see the musical when it came through Seattle? Quite good.

Enjoy your bupkiss; I'll call you for some hanging out next week.

I can't even tell you. My sister got the musical recording for Xmas (for some reason), and it's very exciting. Patti LuPone! I love that lady.

See you around, then. XD
