THIRTY cm?? Bigger than a DINNER PLATE!! Nearly 12 inches across.

That's one big mofo spider. Same size as the other "BIGGEST SPIDER", the Goliath Tarantula of South America.

PS: Your link to the spider article has a spurious "b" at the end, should be image=1 and NOT image=1b

I squeal like a little girl if I saw that spider in the wild!!!

I want to know why that horse doesn't piss itself?!

That lightning/ash/tornado thing is CRAZY! (That's something that would definitely make me piss myself...)

Do you know where the Eidolon helvum usually roost? Ours pretty much always stay in the night house until dusk (when we have all gone home). From what I have heard, they like to roost in the mouths of caves in the wild, rather than out in the relatively open trees.

They roost in one of the trees. It's super-cute. :)

I love those guys! At some point, go hang out on the rubber roof when they're flying around - you can hear the Ruwenzori clicking! :)

The lion and horse pic explains quite succinctly why I am extremely suspicious of circuses... I imagine some serious punishment training was involved....

Yaay, Giant Huntsman!!
