Noticing the year: 04/23/08

I see today that the callery pears on Netherlands are in full bloom, all of a sudden. I also saw my first Boston chipmunk today (having seen my first exurban chipmunk at the park last weekend) in Franklin Park. Hawthorn trees are sending out bundled leaves, and flowering crabapples have flower buds ready for the big show. Driving by the ( Read more... )

I'd buy it!

Don't talk to me about wild mustard: it's already taking over my yard. Problem is, I like the way it looks. It's got a pretty shape. If I remember correctly, it gets nice yellow flowers too. I know, I know, "the Devil can assume a pleasing form" and I shouldn't be swayed from eradicating it. :-)

I like the many wild mustards too. Yes, most of them have nice yellow flowers. Garlic mustard's are white, and I used to wage war on it. We might try to eradicate it from Ward's pond during an urban nature walk.

Shockingly, I saw a chipmunk running around in the snow in NH on March 14th (why yes, I do mark "firsts" on our calendar!). Not sure if it was from the anti-hibernation fringe or what. Cute, though!

The book would be great. :)

Not sure if you grok self-publishing - but you need to find an agent (for US citizens). Perhaps, looks for publishers who have a gardening bent or more inclined towards nature?

A book would be fabulous! I'd suggest starting with Island Press, as I think they'd love this sort of thing. They don't require agents, either.
