I owe you people a real post, but my change of routine (Alexis' change of routine, which becomes mine by necessity) has become permanent. It's not a bad thing, I just have to figure out where livejournal fits in it all. She bought herself a new (used) laptop, so once that's up and running, we can play with the internet at the same time, at least ( Read more... )

I agree with you and the review about it being some badassed spraying. I don't think anyone else could reproduce that.

Back when Episode One was still filming, several stories leaked about how Jake Lloyd's acting was so bad that the crew referred to him as "Mannequin Skywalker", and Ron Howard blew up in print about how unfair it was to judge a child actor before the film saw release. (Remember, this was the same movie that Francis Ford Coppola thought was the best of the series, and not just because his daughter had a nonspeaking part in it.) Even though Ron shut the hell up after Episode One came out, I'm almost sympathetic to poor Mr. Lloyd, because not only did the subsequent two films prove that bad directing was a major factor, but that Lucas managed to find an actor to replace Lloyd who was even more plastic and forgettable.

I happen to know for an iron-clad fact that CGI was required to retouch Lloyd's performance.

I'm not surprised in the slightest. He wasn't fake enough to suit Lucas?

I believe it, but why didn't they bother to CGI Natalie Portman mouthing Liam Neeson's lines?

The sad thing is, he really can act. If he'd had a better script to work with he might've been alright. You should see him in Shattered Glass.

My favorite Anthonly Lane line is from his review of Batman Forever, where he said the film's title "began to sound more like a threat than a promise."

I have nothing to say on this topic, but wanted to share with you a post from the Tucson LJ community about a huge pit-bull dog-fighting ring just busted by local police. For some mysterious reason, all the defendants were just released without bond.
