apparently you can eat jewelweed too, but i haven't looked into what parts or how.
sweetfern, also common, is good for poison ivy and bugs.
i'll take a lot of fresh crushed green plants as a skin tonic or nothing, if i have to, but then, i have a good idea which plants to use vs the ones not to (like more poison ivy)...
as a public service announcement i'd like to point out that OLD poison ivy, especially as growing on trees and things as vines, mostly gets around the "leaves of three" rule. you could be climbing, cutting, leaning on, or otherwise burning this stuff, without knowing it - careful! active all winter too!!!
