We're taking a couple days off and hanging out in Austin Texas! So far we really like it. Apparently it's cooler than normal, which means about 20 degrees warmer than Boston. Nicely warm. I'm a musician in Houston. Welcome to Texas!

I read your 365 project, and I often post nature photos from within the Houston Loop. Amazing what grows here in the urban environs.

What part of the coast are you visiting? If you are going to Galveston via Houston, I would suggest a quick side trip to Brazos Bend State Park, just south of Space City. It is a huge wilderness area with surprisingly convenient access to amazing plants and animals.

Besides the hundreds of plants and birds unique to this part of the world, there are numerous, hard to miss 15 foot alligators, generally out lounging along the trail paths. Keep your small dogs and children on a leash.
