New (Barely) Fantastic TV

I tend to watch a lot of fantasy/sci-fi/horror on TV, but a lot of stuff I used to watch is now either finished or only available on channels I no longer get. So I've been scraping around for new TV series that will fit into my preferred niche -- and the pickings are slim.

>Alcatraz has the backstory that everyone on the island when the prison closed actually disappeared, and now they're coming back, without any signs of age. It's also got a Lost alumnus ("Hurley".)

Is it just the actor who played Hurley, or is it actually the Hurley character?

Have you seen American Horror Story? I heard it's good.

It's the actor, not the character. In the show, he's actually an author of several books on Alcatraz and is considered an expert on the history of the prison. He also owns a comic book store. Similarly, Person of Interest has the actor (Michael Emery?) who played Ben, not the character Ben. He's paranoid, but not all that devious or manipulative.

I hadn't heard of American Horror Story, so I looked it up... it's on a channel I don't get.
