I was pleasantly surprised to see a post from this community pop up on my friends page. I'm not entirely sure if this is enough to interest me (another book about secret werewolf society), but I'll think about it.
It's interesting to me, how reader attitudes shift/go in cycles. I remember just a few years ago, people here were complaining of the saturation of the market with vampires, and now you're seeing an over-abundance of werewolves, heh. But, I can say that the wolves of this world have a unique origin story, rooted in pre-Christian Italian pagan religion, that definitely puts a new perspective on the general werewolf mythos.
It is funny how trends play out. I should clarify that I'm not dismissing this novel out of hand. Just because it is sounds cliche doesn't mean the story isn't good. Are there any sample pages available?
I have a weakness for any sort of urban fantasy, so I'm glad you posted about this! However, you may want to let your dad know that he -- or his publisher -- needs to contact Amazon, because this book doesn't show up in a search.
The book isn't available yet, its release date is October 31st. If it still doesn't show up on/after that date, then something will clearly be amiss. However his other two titles mentioned in the post *are* available now :)
Some of the books I have on pre-order with Amazon aren't being released until next year, so I definitely think there's a problem.
Moreover, your dad is listed as two separate authors on Amazon -- D.C. Petterson for one book and DC Petterson for the other -- so anyone discovering one of his earlier books won't find any others.
I'm not sure all books are always available for pre-order though. Another factor may be that there are three different publishers for each of these books and so marketing was surely handled differently by each of them. I'll bring this to his attention though.
