I am starting to be really scared by the commentary appearing in the Snape/McGonagall thread at FictionAlley. When did my ship become overrun with children? Oh, I know, I'm a snob, but there's just something about this kind of thing that grates on my nerves. I agree, I agree, I agree. I mean, these people *claim* to have read the books!

Okay, on of the things that attracts me to this ship is how close it is to being a non-ship. If there is anything going on, it is well below the surface.

The question is not "would they ever kiss in public," or "are they shagging like rabbits," or "do they have a secret love-child." The question is, "could they ever break through their reserve and even *contemplate* a relationship?"

I can see them together, but the challenge is putting them together believably. And these plebey I-don't-know-whats totally ignore all we know of McGonagall and Snape in canon and don't even try.

I guess I'm a snob too.
