Recent ice storm

Mar 28, 2009 12:50

I had rather forgotten about these, but I took quite a few shots in a recent ice storm that came out rather nicely. I've only put 2 of my favorites here, but there is a whole album of them. Clicking on either of these will get you to the album, where you can view larger versions, or the ret of the shots. Enjoy!

My pleasure; I'm happy you like them! They were mostly a lot of fun to take, cold and loss of power notwithstanding! LOL

WOW!

I love ice storms. Of course, I've lived in Atlanta for 10+ years so I rarely get to enjoy them. (And I only enjoy them b/c my neighborhood has all underground power lines and I don't drive anyway, so I have no worries!) I have some awesome pics from an ice storm around 1999, maybe I can dig up.

Well, that does help! The beauty of this storm was a little dampened by not having power (or heat) for nearly a week! I'd love to see your photos if you end up finding them!

You're too kind, thank you! It was an incredible phenomenon, really. The shapes of different foliage and stuff encased in ice were fascinating. It reminded me a little of those paperweights with leaves of flowers inside glass or acrylic, you know what I mean? I think I got rather obsessive about exploring all the different twigs and bits in the ice! LOL
