why is it that you get snap-dragons blooming randomly around your yard, but I just get weeds?

These photos are lovely. The rainbow with the bird is fantastic, but the owl is my favorite!

Lovely pictures! The unknown little whorls (the pic just before the owl) are the seed heads on a clematis vine.

The fuzzy seeds are a Clematis vine. I have no idea what kind, there are many out there.

Your neighborhood hawk, if it is like the one pictured, is a Red Tailed.

Two other urban hawks that look very much like that but are smaller and lighter are the Cooper's Hawk and the Sharpshinned Hawk. Any of the three might be found where there is proper cover and trees for them to hunt and perch.

The sparrow at the end of the rainbow made me grin!
