Firearms maker steps down from his own company for supporting Sen. Obama

Sarasota, FL - In an sterling example of how heated things can get in politics, especially with hot button topics like guns, Dan Cooper was asked to resign as President of Cooper Firearms after it became common knowledge that he supports Sen. Obama over Sen. McCain. Stepping down from the business he founded and that bears his name is the price he ( Read more... )

This is just a rather nice example of the vitriol someone who dares question the right-wing.

Fear the dittoheads, for they will ruin you.

Moreover, I hope this is a nice illustration and wake up call for those on the moderate Republican side as to why the rest of their moderate bretheren won't vote Republican.

Although I agree with you on most of your points, I can't feel sorry for Dan Cooper. He of all people, being a CEO, should have known that his support of a presidential candidate would/could have repercussions. I have no problem with him supporting Barack Obama, or the President of Zimbabwe for that matter; however when you are a CEO of a company, you have to think of your employees and the company as well as your own interests. Was there a need for him to "come out" and support him, could he not have easily just given what the law allows to the campaign and went on his merry way?

I mean really, it's not like the guy doesn't know the industry, for crying out loud, he built the company, what did he think the people who buy guns were going to do, throw him a party?!

Agreed. Like Natalie Maines, he should have had a clue. My outrage is at the fact some people can no longer publicly support the political candidate of their choice.

As an Obama-supporting gun owner, I think I'll check out their site and see if they have anything I want...

Does anyone else find it somewhat ironic that Baghdad is exhibiting more and deeper political reconciliation that we are?
