The Life and Times of a Sims 3 Fail

So basically, my game is giving me the serious case of "WTF Mates!?"

I had an issue with a recent download not being compatible with my Sims 3 Game, and not being sure which one it was, I went with the usual troubleshooting method of removing my mods and defaults custom content folders. Figured out what the issue was and the game loaded normally.

That is just really weird. The founder looks just fine in my game and since he's supposed to be using a default skintone he should not have problems with missing skintones. I have no words of wisdom for you. I know a few basic things about TS3 but for the most part TS3 problems perplex me.

Try deleting cache files. That is all I can think of. And if he's in one of the worlds that makes use of the WorldCaches folder, delete that folder and let the game generate a new one. Is this the first time you loaded him? And is it just him or all sims? Also try changing his clothes and hair. If he was wearing the conflicting CC you got rid of, redressing him, changing his hair and makeup and deleting cache files might be the way to go. Or at least where to start to rule out bigger problems.

I have tried all of that :P I've played him quite a bit before this happened, and it was directly after I removed the CC from the directory. All my other CC is working fine, and everyone with this replacement skintone is having the same problem- even in other hoods.

I've ~*fixed*~ the problem for now by using Awesome Mod and changing his skintone, but I really did like the replacement, so I want to look more into it :-/

That happens when you delete/take off the game the custom skin your sims was using. Like you found out, it can be corrected using the 'editsim' cheat with awesomemod.

The same thing will happen if you happen to share a sim with custom skin and the person who downloads don't have it in game. :)

Now I'm curious if I can ever find that skin again. I downloaded a brand new default replacement skin and my game isn't detecting that either :(

Using the cheat 'editsim' you can change the ages of the sim. Select another skin/the default and try to change the sim age and then click the 'back' button to bring your sim back to the earlier/normal age. This should fix the skin.
I say to click the back button because depending the age you change, the sim will lose traits/favorites. And going 'back' should have your sim back to how it was and it'll grab the new changed skin in the process.
Hope it wasn't too confusing! :]
