Um, does anyone out there know a lot about putting together computers? I have what appears to be several new harddrives (which was what my computer needed), but... it's not something I know what to do with ( Read more... )

O_o the question is, does your motherboard support the IDE hook ups?

Um. I think so? I just don't know what to do with SCSI hookups and etc. x.x;;; 'Cause that's what the new drives are. ... I don't need all new components to go with the HDs, do I? o.o 'Cause I can totally just get a new HD that'll fit in my comp, if that's the case. *fallover*

*plot to drag Kari over to help put computar back together* <.< ... >.> ...

Also: I wonder if I can snag some of the stuff off my old HD if we slave it to the new one.. >.> Probably won't work with these ones, though. *facepalm*

You shouldn't need all new hardware. That would only happen if your computer was... twelve + years old like my parents. And some older motherboards just don't have hookups for these things, which is what my one friend had to deal with. I need to see your computer to know. And if you need an hard drive with a different hookup I might be able to give you one for super cheap. >_>

<3 I can totally crack the case open and take a look Wednesday or some other time this week if you see fit.

And if I can find my old hookup cable to transfer data we might be able to save some stuff off your old hard drive. Unless the hard drive itself is terribly damaged and can't accept a transfer of data.

I could probably do it if I was THERE, but there's no way in hell I could talk you through it D=

*fallover* I need to learn more about computer innards. >.>

Maybe you can still help, though.. is it at all possible to mix SCSI and IDE hard drives? (Or SATA... I have no idea what the one I have now is. *need to check*) And by mixing I mean have the SCSI be the main HD and have the IDE slaved to it? o.O

... *-really- needs to learn more about computer innards* @.@
