Coloring in PS Elements 2 without curves!

We'll be going from this *points left* to this *points right*. Please let me know if this was useful to you and show me what you've made of it! And feel free to ask questions if you're not sure about something.
Step 1

Crop your pic the way you like it best. Do not sharpen it yet! The result is our base. But it's way too dark so we duplicate the base thrice and set the first two copies to Screen 100% and the third to Screen 60%. That's better, isn't it?
Step 2

Now we start with the coloring. Open a new layer. Fill it with a very light orange ( I chose #F5ECD5) and set it to Color Burn 70%.
Step 3

Open another new layer. Fill it with a very light blue (I chose #E5F2FA) and set it to Color Burn 100%.
Step 4

Open a new layer. Fill it with a dark blue (I chose #020123) and set it to Difference 100%.
Step 5

We could use a little more depth so we're going back to our light blue layer. Duplicate it, drag it to the top and set it to Color Burn 18%. The difference is hardly noticeable, but believe me, it's there :).
Now merge all the layers into a new layer and sharpen.
Step 6

Last but not least we're adding this brush made by ??? and add the + and the word home (TeleLogo, 16pt.) to it.

And yep, that was it. Comments, suggestions and critique are always welcome :).
