Oh, hi! I'm Suzi, nice to meet you. You're with the Idol group, right? Good, good...there have been a few of you through here lately so I've had some practice giving the tour.

Let's just go up the stairs here...Ah, be careful... )

An aviary!! That's fantastic. :) What types of birds do you have?

Love the lorikeet in your icon. Those are native here and it still amazes me!

I've had cockatiels and African greys. The cockatiels died of old age, the one parrot was diseased, and the two that are left are living in not-so-loving conditions with my family -- when we got them, my sister and I were homeschooled and my mom was staying at home. Now everyone works full time and I don't live there anymore, but one of them is hopefully coming to live with me where he will get lots of attention!

The lorikeet is a resident of the national aviary in pittsburgh, they have a room where you can feed the lories and they land on you. I LOVE it :D

They land on you! That's incredible. A friend of mine, her photo on facebook is from an old school trip she took somewhere and she has three rainbow lorikeets perched on her body - shoulder, head, palm. I'm slightly jealous :)

G'day, oooh parrots! My native country has the only snow dwelling parrot on earth, the kea. And the country next door, which I lived in as a child, has flocks of cockatoos so vast they blow your mind away! I miss waking up to that.

Keas...aren't those also the only carnivorous parrots, too?

I can't imagine how LOUD of a flock of cockatoos is O_O

Keas aren't carnivorous but omnivorous. They include carrion in their diet if it is available. You'd be right as rain in the snowfields with a bunch of keas around you, unless you parked your car and left it unattended. Then you're doomed.

And that's pretty loud...as in 'shut the bloody hell up already! Some of us are trying to sleep!'
