What are THEY playing at?!?! What the hell is SHE playing at?!?! OMG, ridic! I thought she was setting them up as a "favour" to Herc - that was... wow. But she couldn't pay Martin nuh uh.

Course I always knew that Herc particularly was playing a really bad game.

But why would Herc miss out on teh gay bonking? If I was Caro, that's the part I'd want to see! :D

I... still... sheeeeeesh... But I'm sure Douglas will "win", for a given value of "winning", because he always does, and because he's the only one with a clue what he's doing (Caro sure doesn't have one!) Also the one with the least to lose.

But.... Yikes! *shudders*

Ha! I did ask them several times if this was really what they wanted to do, and it definitely was. They all have reasons, if not necessarily admirable ones.

I suspect that on the previous occasions when Herc's partners have discovered that he's been having gay sex on the side the women have said many rather vehement things to him but none have ever gone "Ooohh, can I watch?" Making out with Douglas in front of his girlfriend isn't really a thing he expects to be remotely acceptable.

Clearly, Herc's partners have not been slashy fangirls - he's been hanging out with the wrong set!

But considering his girlfriend HAS JUST SET HIM UP with Douglas, for the avowed purpose of OBSERVING them, you'd think Herc might get a clue - but then old habits are hard to break :-)

I am very curious what your characters are telling you want they want to do now. Douglas postponing to re-strategise makes perfect sense ("tactical retreat") - if I'd been Carolyn I'd been like, no, now. How much more privacy do you need than a hotel room (two even!) where no one knows you? Clearly a case of buying time. Carolyn should declare herself "winner", the others having "forfeited" already *g*

I'm thinking Herc's wet dream is having both Doug and Caro tag-team domming him, but I have no idea what Douglas is planning to do with Caro. Maybe he doesn't either, hence the postponement *g*

They are all buying time, I think. I'm sure Douglas could have played it by ear if he'd been pushed but hotel walls can seriously be rather thin, plus he needs some thinking time to figure out how to handle Carolyn without having Herc drop out of character to protect her.

Herc is more likely to think that he's been set up for the purpose of getting caught out and shouted at than getting laid. That was more Carolyn's original intention, anyway. She's not sure how she ended up in the game, or even what that means but she'll be damned if she's going to back out now. Herc's the only one who's horrified by the whole thing- he doesn't want Douglas bullying Carolyn, he doesn't want Carolyn to see Douglas bullying him and he thinks having her there definitely does for his chance of sex with Douglas! But he's bottom of the pecking order right now so no-one cares.

That would make an easier ending to write!
