Apparently it snowed or graupled in Burbank either yesterday or today.. Whatever it was, there are pictures of white frozen percipitation coating the ground...
It slushed near us. It was pretty weird - out of our window it was all pretty sunny skies and then on the half of the sky we can't see out our window it was dark and ugly. When it 'rained' it was like huge melty hail drops that built up in places like the world's saddest melted snowcone.
So apparently there's a word for what fell onto Burbank and our area... it's "graupel." Not the prettiest word, the definition is "snow pellet." And "snow pellet" is then defined as "A small white ice particle that falls as precipitation and breaks apart easily when it lands on a surface. Often used in the plural. Also called graupel, soft hail."
