My Solution to the Fermi Paradox

Feb 15, 2007 11:59

Every single advanced intelligent species that arises destroys itself.

It occurs either accidentally, or through the actions of one/multiple malevolent/misguided member(s)/creation(s).

Discovering the source code of the universe simply results in too much uncontrollable power. Ergo the oldest species out there are the dumbest ones, chained to their planets and "grazing" on whatever it is that keeps them "alive".

(The Fermi paradox is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of evidence of contact with such civilizations.)
