[ When he finally wakes, from a sleep long despite the lingering pain because of drugs and exhaustion, it isn't a slow, calm coming-to. It's disturbed, because something initiated it, and he makes a sound His eyes open onto a haze, because of course he isn't wearing his glasses. ]
oh yes, humungous insects that can be ridden in the desert ..anti_buttonsNovember 28 2007, 20:28:06 UTC
Of course.
[It is dismissed; Arrancar, Hollows, are much stronger than Humans, there's little doubt to it. Ishida merely remarked on the somewhat popular attitude to deny any connection whatosever.]
That's her business.
[What, he wonders, need he do to bore Szayel enough to leave him be? Falling back asleep is a very tempting option, only, he's not sure he cares to be willingly unconscious with him in the room.]
I love Bawabawa. ;3; He's so cute! Especially when he tries to talk~unresearchedNovember 28 2007, 20:41:27 UTC
[He'll leave when he wants to, Ishida, and that's that. But he gives the Quincy one thing, and that is to get up from the bed, moving for the sink.]
And in part yours, as you're the one she's so... Attached to.
[Not that he had to think of the word, nor that there would be another, better one - though needy did come to mind - but because the pause was there while he moved his hand from hilt to tap.]
You certainly do surround yourself with some less-than-savoury types, Quincy.

[Even with his back to the Quincy he knows the look in this direction before was for a reason, and he's going to abuse that all he can. Even if it means literally getting his fingers wet, even going so far as to slip the white glove free first.]
Something I applaud you for. It would be a shame if you wanted to say my skills were on par with someone not an Espada... You might find yourself confined to that bed for longer than originally anticipated.
[It's a hollow threat because really, he doesn't care what anyone says about his strength. He knows what it is and knows his limits, what he can do and who he can negate. Comparing him to a Privaron, to a shinigami would be foolish, and he's not going to prove otherwise. It's enough to know it and carry that knowledge proudly, without stopping to petty fights.]

[Ishida doesn't consider himself paranoid, but he isn't a fool, and can identify something in the Espada's approach like torture. He should look away, but then he'd be able to hear it, and it wouldn't make much of a difference. ]
Applaud? No need to exaggerate. So an insult to your ability would move you to violate your previous stance on attacking the defenseless.
[Tired, terribly thirsty, but not quite fooled by the threat.]

[Really, that Quincy pride is such an amusing thing, and he idly shakes the droplets off his hand as he glances over]
I wouldn't consider the course of action I might take as an attack. You understand what I did to place you in your current situation, of course?
[sighs, inclining his head towards the door.]
Quincy are special and rare. That you're both in the City is something I am quite glad for, and it is made all the better by the both of you being at your top strength. It is not well-wishing so much as it is a desire to be able to watch you at your peak.
... I wouldn't ever call it hot.anti_buttonsNovember 30 2007, 10:43:23 UTC
[He can't quite see each individual drop shaken from his position, but Ishida gets the gist of it, and how dry his mouth is, too dry.]
Of course I understand.
[But Ishida doesn't want even the smallest reference to Ryuuken, not the slightest. He lets his head fall back, against the headboard. It should bother him, to be spoken of like that, and it does, only -- he's so tired.]
Hn. And to break us at our peak? ... Ryuuken would say I'm hardly at my peak.
[Not a plea for his continued survival, merely a statement, if a little bitter.]

I hope you understand, as well, that it is in everyone's best interests if the nature of my release is not made public? After all...
[And this one is a threat, and a very real one because he has all the information, all the tiny little details, every little scrap gleaned and code hacked, manipulation as the key--]
There is so much more I can tell the more dangerous citizens here, and not just about you.
[No, about the shinigami-- granted, Ishida doesn't care about them, but he includes them anyway-- the humans associated with them, shinobi, non-humans, the runt, the pet, the exiles and the fathers. All those that broke into Las Noches, and all they have associated themselves with since appearing in the City. It's all documented, all there, down to the weaknesses most easily exploited and the ways to get to them, physically and mentally, all he knows.]
Everyone has a chance to grow, Ishida. I don't doubt the intelligence of your father in that regard. It is merely ourselves that limit us, and outside reasons are just excuses.

[While a moment before Ishida was tired, head falling back, the drug and whatever else made sluggishness of his body leaving him near-inattentive, suddenly, without so much of a blink, eyelash touching cheek or twitch of his fingers, Ishida is all too alert.
Because he isn't a fool, he understands, would have understood without the full sentence. He does not swallow, does not nod.]
We all have our secrets. [Bla~andly] I'm sure it's a privilege to be learned only in battle.
It's more an insult than a compliment, when Ryuuken says it.
[Not to imply the Octava is complimenting him, but it's all he can do to keep himself sounding detached, matter-of-fact. Not like a petulant, unloved son.]

[And that is all he really wanted to be sure of, beyond the damage, the fact that his abilities remained his and his alone to use as he needed, to remain a surprise still. So he smirks, moving to fill a glass with the liquid he's left running in the background.]
And only in battle against an appropriate opponent. Or in my case, opponents.
[Not that he's angry he got stuck fighting four where everyone else got one, not at all! If anything, he's glad they pushed him so far.]
Tough love is better than none, don't they say?
[But what does Szayel know of that, anyway, as heartless and unfeeling as all arrancar are-- He says it because he's aware of the less than ideal relationship between father and son, a relationship he takes great pleasure in watching.]
... okay you do have a point there. a strong point.anti_buttonsNovember 30 2007, 12:25:53 UTC
[Ishida is tempted to gloat that he could have been appropriate alone, though it would mean neglecting his own words to Abarai regarding his usefulness. However, he can see little point in gloating when, regardless, when four or one, the Espada was the victor. So Ishida merely tries to look at the Espada, or the ceiling, instead of the glass.]
... Love?
[Here, he cannot help but drop his detached facade to laugh. A brief, short sound.]
There's no love. Ryuuken doesn't care about anything but money.
[No, he is so not confiding in the Espada who crushed his stomach. (Which isn't to say that Ishida holds it against him, as that would be absurd.) It's only fact, not, again, the petulant whines of the unloved son.]
is it a strong and pointy point?unresearchedNovember 30 2007, 12:36:43 UTC
[He smirks again at the laugh, aware that this was civility bordering problematic territory for himself, but he pushes on anyway because it isn't about him. It's about the Quincy knowing that above all else, it's the Espada that has the larger claim.]
I hardly doubt he intends to sell you to a circus, even if money is a prime factor in his actions. Quincy are still human.
[He wouldn't care if Ishida directly confided or not, it's all information in the end, and no information is useless information when it comes to knowing your enemy. As for what he's giving away, it's all things the boy should know already, carefully calculated statements of fact that reveal little to nothing of himself.
The full water glass is toyed with idly, the tap shut off as he watches Ishida, free hand tapping the bridge of his nose.]
And mortal as you may be, it's still a pity you don't turn sides. You hate the shinigami as we do, after all.

[Ishida hardly needs to be suspicious; a person, or Arrancar, a monster of the Octava's kind isn't very difficult to read, insofar as one considers motivation. A scientist, seeker of information, of the why, without messy emotion to be involved.
What Ishida understands is that he must be careful, regarding what he gives away. Thusfar, nothing is unknown, or very dangerous at all. He won't slip up. A casual tone, though it is Ryuuken he speaks of.]
He wouldn't get nearly enough for that. Of course, to continued being paid well, he must be accepted by society. Any outlandish behavior toward his offspring would be problematic in the long run.
[Okay, but he really, really wants that water. It hurts to talk. He can't really not say anything to the last of it -- he can, oh, but again Ishida smirks. He's not very worried about his answer being turn on him; it's more clear fact.]
