remind me never to EVER EVER EVER buy a dell again. they SUCK ASS. my power cord is broken. again. idk wtf is wrong with it, but it leaves me without my computer. the only way i have of interacting with the internet is my parents' desktop. DD: I haven't had a chance to call dell and make them give me a new one yet D

Are the power cords for Dell laptops special and particular to Dells? If not, then you can probably pick up an off-brand one for somewhere in the vicinity of $20 at a computer store. While you'd have to pay for it and Dell would probably replace the cord free of charge due to it being a basic hardware malfunction (I assume?), it might be sturdier and last longer than the Dell brand power cords. I know that for a while there, pretty much all laptops had the same kind of power cord and it didn't make a big difference if you had a brand name one or an off-brand one. (Unfortunately, off-brand is no longer an option for me, as there are no off-brand cords for the new Mac laptop cords. Sigh.)

I think so? the bit that plugs into my computer is an octogon, and I've never seen an off brand one like that. (although I haven't exactly been looking.) dell should replace it for free (they are this time. I just got off the phone with them. it'll get here in 1-2 business days) though until my warranty runs out and by then it'll be time for me to buy a new computer anyway.
