Y'know, I just might be out of it, but how come the mere fact that there *is* a downloadable version of the book already floating around endangers people who don't want to be spoiled? Wouldn't it take a person to log into whatever filesharing program/site they have to, download said file and read it?

The comments to the article you posted as just as interesting as the article, as they highlight the real issue here: the only thing people who don't want to be spoiled has to do is *nothing*, as opposed to people who *do* want to, since they have to go find the file and download it.

Because people have been posting spoilers in places that are complelty unrelated to Harry Potter, with no warnings. Fans have been reading what should be completely innocent comment threads and been randomly spoiled.

So this is a warning - be careful what you read, spoilers are in the wild and can appear anywhere. A week ago, that wasn't a problem.
