Bedtime Stories (Sherlock/John; PG)

Mar 30, 2011 16:40

This is an auction story, written for tehomet, for waltzmatildah's Queensland flood auction.
It's Sherlock/John, with suggestion of another pairing. It's barely PG, containing references to well loved children's books. Fluffy as the stuffing for these animals.
About 2,730 words.

This came out quite lovely. I enjoyed it very much. It sorta makes you want to read it aloud...of course being in the office just now one might receive the odd look. (Good grief, all those stories still in the old brain pan...)

Thanks. I imagine that there are worse ways to go to sleep than having Sherlock read aloud to you.

I laughed like a loon -- this is so terrific!

(My sister is Rabbit. She likes to think she's Christopher Robin, but all who know her believe otherwise. Also, Theodore is frequently a Bear of Little Brain as he barks out the window.)

I love Eeyore. I know the Disney versions are vilified, but did you know that Harlan Ellison's wife wrote for the TV cartoon show? (and the stories weren't bad).

I'm going to put Pooh on my girls' bedtime story list. We do things a bit out of order, just finished "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," but the whole Pooh collection is on the shelf waiting. I'm rather proud that the oldest recognizes Sherlock on the PBS commercials.

But I digress. Good story. :)

I didn't read the Pooh books until I was in college. My dad used to tell us bedtime stories he made up, instead of reading to us. But I *love* reading aloud and being read to.

Thanks!

I read to my girls before they were born and haven't missed a day since. They love it. I wish they were a little more compassionate about sore throats and laryngitis though! :)
