Warning: un-beta-ed, typos & grammar mistakes
Summary: the fanfic where Inoo is sexually confused

~CHAPTER 1-2   ~CHAPTER 3

Author’s note:
  • This fanfic was born after I watched Peach Girl trailer. Suddenly I wanted a story where Inoo is the center of attention, as a charai person, just like in Peach Girl. And I always wanted to write school story of JUMP.
  • After so many discussions with my Inoocent  squad, it was decided that both Inoo and Daiki here are “pure”, meaning they are mainly just high school boys, without much experience in sex and dating.
  • Some parts of the story are inspired by HanaKimi drama (the original one, not the remake), WITH Boys Be series, Peach Girl movie and many things that happened with Inoo & Daiki as JUMP members so far (their activities, photoshoots, filming, etc.).
  • Thanks to the Inoocent LINE chat group for their endlessideas for this fic.
  • This is an "open" fanfic, meaning I don't have an end for it, so it will keep on going as a serial.
  • I would love to hear your ideas for InooAri fanfic, and will try my best to put your ideas in the story. You can comment or DM me with your ideas.
  • Same thing applies, I prefer to use “Inoo” for Inoo Kei, and “Daiki” for Daiki Arioka. Please ignore my strange naming inconsistency.
  • Special thanks for Omochi for naming the bunnies in this chapter. Below are the guest stars for this chapter, the cute Dutch bunnies: COCA & COLA

CHAPTER 4 (The Bunny Chapter)

“Arioka-kun, can’t wait to see you at the pool today!”

“Ah, Takaki-senpai…” Daiki is surprised to see his senior greet him at the hallway. “I will definitely be there.”

Takaki gives him a smile and a hand wave as he walks along with his classmates. Daiki tries to hide his smile, because he thinks Takaki-senpai is so cool. He has been so kind to him at the swimming club, so Daiki doesn’t feel left out although he just joined recently.

Daiki walks to the lab with happy heart. He sits next to Chinen and Yamada at a long table where they usually do experiments and projects.

“Okay, class, today I’m giving you a project that contributes 50% of your final grade,” their Biology teacher announces, gaining groans from every direction. “Relax, you will have a partner so you can share the pain. For two weeks, you will be responsible of taking care and observing some animals. They are kept in our school farm, so you have to visit them everyday and takes note and do whatever you need to do. Now, I will read your name and your partner’s name, please one of you come up here to pick a draw to decide which animal for you. Fair eh?”

The whole class is buzzing with complaints and comments. “Silence, please. Okay, listen up for your name!” The teacher proceeds with reading names of students that get paired up together. Yamada gets Chinen, and Daiki is looking at them in envy as both of them doing hi-five. Daiki waits for his name and hopes he gets someone who is serious enough to do this project.

“Arioka Daiki… and Inoo Kei!”

Daiki cringes inside. Why him??  He glances at Inoo across the room and that guy is all smiling and waving his hand at him.

When the teacher is done with the name list, he writes the animals names at the board. Chicken, rabbit, pig, cow, frog, horse, and sheep. Yamada suddenly stands up, “Sensei, I don’t wanna get frog! Please, I just can’t. It’s impossible for me.”

The whole class are giggling, some know that Yamada is afraid of frogs. The teacher holds up his hand. “Sit down, Yamada-kun, you might not get it. But it depends on the drawing. Come, one person from each team should come here and pick a piece of paper from this box. Whatever animal written there, it’s your responsibility. If you don’t like it, you can find another team who is willing to trade with you.”

Yamada grabs Chinen’s arm. “Chinen, please don’t pick frog, please don’t pick frog, please don’t  pi-“

“Okay, okay, I got it. Chill out!” Chinen pats his best friend’s shoulder then walks to the teacher’s table.

Daiki turns around to look at Inoo, who gestures his hand telling him that Daiki should be the one who picks for their team. Daiki just nods and walks to pick the paper.

Chinen and Yamada gets sheep, so Yamada is jumping up and down and yelling in relief until the teacher tells him to shut up and sit down. Daiki opens the small piece of folded paper and lets out a long breath when he reads “rabbit”.  He turns to Inoo and silently mouthed the word rabbit to him. Inoo grins and then puts both hands above his head and beckons his finger cutely like rabbit ears.

Daiki rolls his eyes and goes back to his seat. Inoo seems like he is never serious about studying. A student raises his hand and asks, “Sensei, is this teaming up based on rooming at the dorm? Because I got my roommate, and I think the others are too.”

The teacher grins as he passes some papers for the project assigment. “Yeah, I borrowed the dorm room list from Kojima-ryocho. I think you will work better if paired up with someone you already know. Well, some of you who has roommate from the other class can get to know each other better, right?”

Daiki sighs. So that’s why he got teamed up with Inoo. Working with him everyday for two weeks is something that Daiki is not looking forward to. The teacher lead his class to the school farm near the library building. Each team meets their animals for the first time. For smaller animals, they get to take care of two of the animals.

Daiki is looking at two bunnies in a cage that will be under his care for the next two weeks. Suddenly he feels someone bumps him and grabs on his shoulders from behind.

“Arioka-kun!! I’m glad we can work together. Aren’t you? Aaaaa so cute! The bunnies are super cuuuuuute~~~” Inoo lets go of Daiki to look at the bunnies closer. “Thank you for picking rabbit, Arioka-kun. I don’t think I’m good with big animals.”

Before Daiki can say any word, Inoo turns around to him. “What name should we give them?”

“Err… I don’t know,” Daiki shrugs.

“Come on, let’s decide together because we will be their daddies for two weeks,” Inoo opens the cage door and gently pick one bunny. “Omg, you are so fluffy~” Inoo craddles it like a baby. “Are they males or females?”

Daiki reads the paper in his hand. “It says here, they are both male. Ten months old.”

Inoo strokes the bunny’s nose softly. “Ah, so you’re not a couple huh? Maybe twins? Siblings?”

Daiki doesn' t even budge to touch the bunnies. He reads the paper again. "They are Dutch breed, commonly used for pets or laboratory test object."

Inoo looks at Daiki as he yelps in horror, "WHAT?! NOOOOO..... How... how can people be so cruel to such cute creatures?"

"Well, some medcine we used now are tested on animals, so they contributes a lot for better human life."

"Arioka-kun, are you saying you agree to animal testing? I cant believe you,” Inoo shakes his head.

“I’m not saying that aI agree to it, it’s just a fact here in the paper,” Daiki snorts.

Inoo puts down the rabbit on the ground so it can hop around the grass area. Then he gently picks up the other rabbit. “Look how cute they are, Arioka-kun! I love black and white rabbits.”

Daiki keeps reading the paper. “It says here they have to be fed in mornings and evenings. In case we can’t come to feed them, we should call the farm staff and let them know beforehand. Failing to feed them according to schedule will be recorded by the farm staff and the teacher will be  notified. You hear that, Inoo-kun? I will make a schedule for taking care of the rabbits, please fill me in on what days you can make it.”

Inoo are still busy playing with the bunnies who are now grazing the grass outside their cage. He looks at Daiki, “Okay, okay, I let you do the scheduling. Ah, I know what to name them!” He points to black and white rabbit, and then the brown and white one. “Coca… and Cola!”

Daiki looks back at Inoo, “Please don’t give them random names.”

“What? It’s cute, because we don’t know if they are siblings or not, so just make them as an inseparable couple. Coca Cola. Right?” Inoo is grining and giggling while saying this. “Do you have better names?”

Daiki sighs because honestly he doesn’t think about names. “Fine, let’s name them Coke.”

“It’s not Coke! The tuxedo one is Coca and the caramel one is Cola. Please don’t shorthen it!” Inoo impatiently corrects Daiki.

Daiki takes a deep breath and just nods, somehow feeling that Inoo relates everything in his life with food. He writes down the names on the paper and checks things they need to do for the next two weeks.

After school is done, Daiki and Inoo go back to the dorm so Daiki can make schedule for their project. "Here, I make schedules when we can take care of Coke together and separately, because I have swimming club and art lessons. You have more free time, so I hope you can use it for the report rather than karaoke-ing with your fans." Daiki points to Inoo's phone. "I just sent it to your mail. Don't forget okay?"

Inoo pouts, "I don't go to karaoke that much. Of course I will take care of our cuties, more than you. And stop calling them Coke, it's Coca and Cola!"

"Whatever. I uploaded the report into Google docs, so you can edit it whenever you are done with your turn."

Suddenly there is a knock on the door and Daiki can hear Chinen's voice calling for him. “Dai-chan~ Are you ready? Dai-chan?"

Daiki promised Yamada and Chinen to study together in the library, so Daiki grabs his bag and shouts, "Coming!"

Inoo also grabs his bag and snickers at Daiki as he follows him to the door. "Dai-chan? How cute!! Is that how your friends call you? Dai-chan~"

"Urusai," Daiki snort before opening the door where Chinen and Yamada waits for him. As the two walks out of their room, Hikaru and Yabu comes by.

"Inoo-chan, let's go grab some snacks and do our homework at the common room," Hikaru says to Inoo.

All six boys go downstairs together but part ways in the hallway. Inoo turns one last time, "See you later, Dai-chan!"

* * *

Beyond Daiki’s expectation, Inoo takes his Biology project seriously. He dilligently researches about how to take care rabbits and comes up with many things for their report. At least Daiki doesn’t have to worry about having lazy partner for this one.

He woke up a bit late, as usual, but he rushes because he needs to take care the rabbits as scheduled. With a melon bread in his mouth, Daiki almost runs outside because Inoo must be already at the farm by now since he always wakes up early.

When he walks out the gate to the street that leads up to the school, he has to stop and turn around because he sees Inoo talking to the girls who always wait for him in the morning. This time the girls are not screaming like crazy fangirls, but all are listening to Inoo.

“…so I hope you understand that you can’t see me for the next two weeks. I have to go early to take care of my dear bunnies.” Inoo holds up his phone. “Look, aren’t they adorable?”

All the girls are chanting “cute” and squeals as they see photo of Coca and Cola on Inoo’s phone. Inoo left the girls after promising them that he will take more pictures of the bunnies and post them on his social media. He sees Daiki already walking ahead so he runs to catch up with him.

“Ohayo, Dai-chan!” Inoo pats Daiki on the shoulder,  then laughs as he sees Daiki’s cheeks are bulgy due to the bread in his mouth. “Ahahaha, you look cute like our bunnies!”

Daiki chews his bread and swallows quickly. Sometimes he envies Inoo who can wake up early easily and have proper breakfast to start the day. But he won’t let Inoo know about it, so he pulls out the report he printed last night and discusses it with his roommate.

“You know, bunnies can die when they feel lonely,” Inoo says while they are cleaning the cage after feeding Coca and Cola. “I’m glad that Coca and Cola have each other as roommates like you and me.”

Daiki doesn’t say anything, just keep cleaning the cage. Inoo continues on what he found out about rabbits. “I wonder if we have female rabbits here too, because our bunnies are males and they need females to mate and make cute kits.”

“I don’t think we even keep rabbits here, I think they are borrowed from nearby farm. We only have lifestock for egg and milk supplies, the rest are borrowed when we need them for class projects. That’s what I heard from Sensei,” Daiki shrugs.

“Aah, I see. Poor babies, please be patient for not meeting your girlfriends in two weeks. Or maybe you can hump each other just to release your needs,” Inoo chuckles at his own thought.

Daiki suddenly feels his face hot. Is stupid Inoo insinuating that their rabbits to go at each other or that Inoo can sense Daiki’s preference that he’s been hiding all this time?

Inoo throws the trash away and then puts back the bunnies in their clean cage. Daiki has been silent since Inoo’s last comment, and Inoo turns around to look at his partner. “Dai-chan, you don’t like rabbits? I mean they are cute and I love them, but it seems like they didn’t touch your heart at all.”

Daiki busies himself typing stuffs on his tablet for their report. He doesn’t want to tell Inoo that he actually had a pet bunny when he was younger and he cried when his bunny died. He loves cute animals, but somehow he doesn’t want to show it like Inoo did.

“I don’t want to get to attach to them, it’s only for 2 weeks project,” he says flatly.

“Aaaa, don’t remind me! I feel like I wanna take these cuties to our room so I can cuddle with them in bed,” Inoo groans as he pets Coca before they leave. Inoo also takes pictures of them. A lot. Daiki just lets him do whatever he wants and walks back first.

Inoo catches up with him, “Dai-chaaaaan, wait for me~”

“Stop calling me that, we are not…” Daiki was going to say ‘best friends’ but somehow he feels it’s going to hurt Inoo’s feelings, so he changes it. “…that close.”

“Ah, don’t be so formal, Roommies. You can call me Inoo-chan as well. Everyone calls me that, even the teachers,” Inoo has his arm around Daiki’s shoulder. “So can we take care of Coca and Cola after we have lunch today?”

“I can’t, we have Geography quiz after lunch,”

Inoo groans, “Aaargh… I haven’t studied for that!”

“Then you should during lunch break,”

Inoo pulls Daiki closer. “Can you help me study then? I’ll treat you lunch,” Inoo tries to persuade Daiki, but the other just snorts.

“No, thanks, I prefer to study alone,” Daiki moves Inoo’s arm from his shoulder as they approach the school building and joins the wave of students for their morning classes.

Daiki manages to avoid Inoo during lunch break, but he sees that Inoo is studying with Hikaru at the cafeteria. But he knows he will have to meet his roommate again in the evening to take care of the rabbits. Daiki tries not to think about the skinship that Inoo has done to him recently. Even the small touch makes Daiki remember the past he shared with someone that he’s been trying so hard to forget.

Daiki meets Inoo again around 5 o'clock where they agree to take care of the bunnies together before dinner. Inoo already there when Daiki arrives. He has working gloves on and he has been cleaning the cage while the bunnies are grazing on the grass around the cage.

"Oi, Dai-chan, you're late. I cleaned the cage. Could you get their food ready please?"

For about an hour, they feed, clean, weigh and observe the furry animals. Inoo seems to enjoy this project so much, he shower both bunnies with affection, while Daiki just does what the paper ask them to do.

“Dai-chan, why don't you pet Cola? He seems to like you more than he likes me," Inoo says while craddling the caramel Ducth in his embrace.

"How can you tell??" Daiki glares at him, thinking Inoo is just being silly.

Inoo chuckles. "He always hops to your direction. Wanna see?" Inoo puts down Cola on the ground. "Cola, that’s Dai-chan! Go to Dai-chan!"
The bunny raise his nose a bit, then make two hops towards Daiki.

Inoo laughs. "See? I told you he likes you.”

Daiki suddenly feels that he is blushing, so he turns around and quickly type something on his tablet. “That… doesn’t mean anything.”

“Awww, don’t be so cold. You will hurt Cola’s feeling. Here, hold him for a while. Let me update the report before I forget about it.” Without asking Daiki’s approval, Inoo takes the tablet from his hand and exchanges it with the brown and white bunny. “Be gentle, okay? He loves it when you pet him and say nice things to him.”

“Eeeeh…” Daiki receives the bunny nervously. But Inoo is busy typing and the bunny seems to snuggle up to him, so Daiki adjusts his holding, and hesitatedly starts to stroke Cola’s neck. “Ah, so soft!” Daiki can’t help to say it outloud.

“I know right? I bet now Cola is dokidoki to be in your arms. Tell him you love him, and he will lift his nose. It’s so cute!”

Daiki can feel his face gets hotter. There’s no way he is going to say it to a bunny, more importantly in front of this charai guy! But Daiki can’t deny that his heart melts because of the bunny’s softness and how he is being friendly to him.

Inoo walks around the cage to check the surrounding and records it in the report. When he walks back, he chuckles to see Daiki seriously petting Cola. “Oi oi, don’t get too cozy with him! You need to give some love for Coca too. He’s been waiting for your touch, Dai-chan!”

Inoo puts down the tablet carefully on a safe place, then picks up the black and white rabbit gently. He approaches daiki and changes the rabbits before Daiki can say anything. “Aaah Cola seems happier now Dai-chan loves him. It’s Coca’s turn to get love from Daddy Daiki,” Inoo is grinning to see Daiki pet the other bunny. “Aaaah, why are they so cute? Don’t you love them, Dai-chan? Yabai… I might want to get a pet bunny now.”

“You can’t bring pets to school, and if you leave them at home, then they will get lonely during school terms. Isn’t useless?” Daiki argues.

“You’re right. I guess I’ll just have to enjoy every minute of our two weeks together then,” Inoo strokes Cola’s nose and babytalks to him.

Daiki notices that Inoo spends more time with the bunnies more than him, because the report gets updated by him more. He feels guilty, but he has swimming club and art lessons to go to, while Inoo doesn’t have any side activity beside school.

The next morning Daiki wakes up rather early because he sets up alarm and this time he forces himself to sit up and open his eyes.

“Ah, you’re up,” Inoo greets him as he buttons his shirt in front of the mirror. “Could you please turn off your alarm?”

Daiki fumbles sleepily for his phone and turns the alarm off. He yawns and blinks his eyes until he can see that Inoo is dressed and ready for breakfast.

“I’m sorry, I will catch up with you at the farm. I’ll go wash up now. Give me 5 minutes,” Daiki walks groggily to the bathroom.

“If you are sleepy, just go back to sleep, Dai-chan,” Inoo looks at his roommate in concern.

“No! I want to take care the rabbits. I’ll be quick, you can go ahead,”

Inoo slings his bag over his shoulder, “Then I’ll wait for you at the cafeteria.”

Fifteen minutes later, Daiki joins Inoo for breakfast, oblivious that this is the first time he eats breakfast with his roommate. It’s still early so the cafeteria is not crowded yet.

“You should eat proper breakfast, Dai-chan,” Inoo comments on Daiki’s sandwich and milk coffee.

Daiki glances at Inoo’s breakfast, a set of common Japanese breakfast. Rolled eggs, grilled fish, vegetables, miso soup and a full bowl of rice. “I’m fine with this.”

They finish breakfast in silence then gets going to the farm. Daiki belatedly realizes that this is also his first time to walk with Inoo to school at such early hour. The air feels cool and fresh, everything is still quiet with only birds chirping and some students who do morning run or exercise.

When they reach the farm, they see some of their classmates are there to take care their animals also. Inoo cheerfuly walks towards the cage, while Daiki stops to take out the tablet from his bag. The next moment he almost jumps because Inoo shrieks.

Daiki runs towards the cage to see Inoo looks at the cage in horror. Daiki quickly opens the cage door, but Inoo holds his hand back.

“Wait! Don’t scare them, they are very sensitive,” Inoo reminds him. Daiki nods then quietly opens the cage. He makes soft cooing sound while reaching to Cola, who is curling up in the corner. Daiki strokes his back gently before picking the bunny up. Cola squirms a bit, but Daiki moves him out of the cage to examine the rabbit.

“I think he’s okay. Only his hand is injured, but the blood dried already. They must be fighting last night,” Daiki tries not to touch the wounded tiny hand of Cola.

“Coca…” Inoo sounds worried and approaches the cage to find the other bunny. Coca is hiding behind the chewing boxes so it takes time to get him out. They find Coca has scratches on his ear and leg.

“Let me call the farm staff. I think they know better to handle this,” Daiki puts Coca back into the cage. “Meanwhile, let’s separate them…” Daiki turns to Inoo and his eyes widen.

Inoo is holding the wounded Cola against his chest, his eyes are teary and his face looks flustered. That moment Daiki feels a sudden pull in his heart. He never expects Inoo to cry because of this. It sounds absurd, but Daiki can’t choose which one is cuter, the cute Dutch bunny or crying Inoo.

“Are you okay?” Daiki asks gently.

Inoo doesn’t answer right away, so Daiki approaches him and calls again,”Inoo…chan?”

Inoo blinks his eyes to get rid of his tears. He sniffles and nods. “I’m okay. Just go… get the staff. They might need to see the doctor…” Inoo sobs as he tells Daiki to go.

Daiki hesitates to go, but he thinks about the bunnies. He comes back with a farm staff who immediately asks the boys to bring the bunnies inside where he can treat their wounds.

While watching the staff cleaning and putting bandage to Cola’s wound, Daiki glances at Inoo. His tears are gone, but his eyes are still red. He wants to ask but he doesn’t want to make Inoo embarrassed either, so he ends up saying nothing.

“They are okay, just scratches. But if wounds are not treated immediately, it can get infected and rabbits can die because of it. For the time being, I’ll put them in separate cages, at least until tomorrow,” the staff informs the boys.
They leave the farm with heavy hearts. Inoo doesn’t talk much and looks listless during class. Daiki has a swimming club activity after school, but as soon as he finishes, he goes to the farm and finds Inoo sitting on the ledge with Coca on his lap.

“How are they?” Daiki asks.

Inoo strokes the black and white bunny gently. “They seems fine, but I feel sad that now they are separated. Although they fought last night, I’m sure they don’t want to be alone for long.”

Daiki doesn’t say anything, just turning on his tablet to update the report, but it seems like Inoo already did it. He wrote a good paragraph about rabbit fight. Daiki puts away the tablet and goes to the other cage to fetch Cola. Then he joins Inoo on the ledge, putting Cola on his lap and strokes his neck.

Inoo reaches his hand out to stroke Cola on Daiki’s lap. “Cola… please forgive Coca for hurting you. Please get along so you can go back to be roommates again, okay?”

Daiki can’t help but smile. “You are so simple-minded.”

Inoo turns to him. “Eh? Well, what’s wrong about being simple minded?”

Daiki shakes his head. “Nothing. It’s just that how can you know that Coca was the one hurting Cola? It could be Coca just defended himself.”

Inoo squints his eyes. “Why so complicated? It’s just a simple rabbit fight. You think they fought because they had a crush of the same doe?”

Daiki laughs. Inoo turns his head to Daiki. “Eh… this is the first time that you ever laughed at my joke… just when I didn’t mean it as a joke…”

Daiki snorts. “Because you always make a bad joke.”

Inoo pouts, but then he happily pets Coca who sniffs at his fingers. “Whatever. One day I will make Dai-chan laugh at all my jokes, right Coca?”

Cola is sniffing at Daiki’s fingers then cutely gets up on his hind legs to sniff at Daiki’s face. Daiki can’t hold back his giggles to see the bunny seeking attention.

“See? Cola loves you so much, Dai-chan,” Inoo glares at his roommate. “You should return his feelings.”

Daiki strokes the bunny’s head. “Some feelings are better left unsaid. Action is better than words.”

Before Inoo can say anything to comment, Daiki holds Cola in his arms and stands up. “Let’s put them back and feed them, so we can go back to the dorm. We have History paper due tomorrow. Have you finished yours?”

Inoo groans. “Why do you always ruin my mood by reminding me of school stuffs?”

Daiki ignores whining Inoo and heads back to the dorm first because Inoo still wants to spend times with the bunnies, so they won’t feel lonely, he said.

As he walks alone, Daiki feels something creeping up his heart, a growing familiar feeling that used to make him happy in the past. He tries his best to shrug it off, but he is not sure how long he can keep that feeling away from his heart.

* * *

Daiki’s schedule and school work keep him busy everyday, thus without warning their 2 weeks project has come to an end. Daiki and Inoo put together a good report, but Inoo cries again on the last day they take care their bunnies. He keeps holding them and kissing them, not wanting to let them go.

“See? I told you not to get too attached to them. Give them to me and go back to the dorm. If I leave you here, I’m sure you will stay with them until the farmer comes to pick them up,” Daiki snorts.

“But they are my babies, and they’re so cute and I love them so much. Dai-chaaan… I want to keep them here, let me take care of them everyday,” Inoo says between his silent sobs.

“It’s not for us to decide, idiot. Go now. You did a good job on the report, so you should be proud and say good bye to them properly.”

Inoo hands the bunnies to Daiki after another 5 minutes of playing with them. Daiki forces him to go and Inoo walks away still sniffling. Daiki puts the bunnies down on the grass and he squats down to play with them for a while.

“You guys are so cute, I will miss you, Coca, Cola,” Daiki chuckles again because it is weird to say the names. He kissed the bunny’s head one by one before putting them back into the cage. “Good bye now. Be good and don’t fight, okay?”

Parting away with cute bunnies and thinking that they will not have to come the next morning to feed them somehow makes Daiki sad. Now he understands why Inoo cried. But this is also the reason that Daiki doesn’t like being too attached. It brings expectation, and expectation only leads to disappointment. He hates that. Daiki shakes his head to get rid of bad memories that are coming back haunting him strongly lately.

He sniffles and realizes that his eyes are wet. Quickly wipes his eyes before anyone can see, Daiki curses at himself for being a cry baby.
