a plea to Hollywood

Will you please stop re-making (or "re-inventing") my favorite movies?  Most are bad re-makes at that (one exception is The Thing, or even Invasion of the Body Snatchers).

I've known about this for a year, and it still saddens me.  Can you please tell me why The Day the Earth Stood Still needs an update?  Is it to put money in the coffers? To look
