A lot of these measures, such as the patriot act, are passed but rarely see execution in the public eye. How many people do you know of who have faced harder charges or penalties for their crimes due to falling under the patriot act? I can only think of six examples, some radical anarchists in Oregon who torched a bunch of SUVs and received "terrorism" charges to add to their prison sentences. I think these Orwellian passages are probably going to be wiped out by some future president, probably not the immediate next one but perhaps the one after, and we won't have seen many of the worst case scenarios that we fear will come to pass. That's just my intuition.

I admit I commented (above) on the bill prematurely. But in reading the letter of legislation, I think that you and "roguegovernment" may have both done so previously in my stead. It's really sad when people promote their agenda as being in the best interests of the people and in all actuality it turns out that they are just trying to scare the populace. The original and typical motivation for scaring people is to work them into submission or, at the very least, suggestibility. So, once again, a radical activist group turns out to be its own worst enemy. I will provide a full writeup on the legislation in my journal, including clarity and commenting (and quotes from the actual legislation) by the end of the day.
