A forgotten anniversary

Today, as my car was sitting in a shop waiting to fail its state inspection, I walked over to Jollyville Java, a small new coffeeshop in a run down parking lot on the intersection of 183 and Spicewood Springs. (For reference, it's the parking lot with Big Lots store and Sambets Cajun deli.) I was moved by extreme, almost desperate, niceness and ( Read more... )

Sorry about the car - and the added expense! But, I have to tell you that I'm really laughing over the fact that you did something so typically "female" and went shopping to soothe the disappointment! Oh my gosh...I never would have thought you'd do something like that! I mean, not at BB&B..... Fry's, maybe... ;)

(Don't get me wrong, I could spend a small fortune at BB&B myself. I'm just not willing to publicly admit it.)

Ah, but I have a good reason to go to BB&B. Apartment needs to be organized after the move. Things need to fit into about 2/3 of the storage space we had before. So, various space-doubling and -tripling equipment is a necessity. Or so I tell myself. So I am allowed to feel absolutely blameless for shopping there. Which wouldn't be the case if I went to Fry's. That would be an indulgence, not a necessity. Not that there isn't a temptation. But I am starting to adopt this strategy against overindulging in shopping: before buying something I ask myself: where would I store it? And not just "it", but its accompanying documentation, cables and accessories. Often the idea of having to find a place for those things, to fit them into my organizing system, will cure me of the desire to buy it. :-)
