The name of this panel hints at the lack of preparedness on the part of organizers -- and, given the trouble they've been through this year it's entirely understandable -- and at the same time, one of the most entertaining panels I've been to at any convention. That's a testimonial to the personalities of the panelists -- Eric Raymond, Howard

Actually, it was indeed intentional.

Eric said something like "if you put Steve and me on a panel it won't really matter what it's about, it'll be entertaining", and I brought up the old Zork reference (which dates back to the "this page intentionally left blank" in 1960's IBM documentation whenever they wanted a new section to start on an even page number...)

I know, I was mostly joking. Yes, I realize science fiction has predicted some future developments. It's just that its overall track record of doing so is not very good.
