When we were in Buenos Aires, we encountered the pickpocket scam where somebody squirts the tourist with tomato sauce and then a "passer by" approaches and offers help cleaning the coat and takes your wallet in the meantime. Luckily I read about it in the tourbook, so I told the "good samaritan" pretty firmly that I don't need help. Still had to clean the coat later on. :/
