Erika has a CD of Christmas songs for children, a gift from Steve's mom. After "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", her next favorite is "Rise up, shepherd, and follow", a religious hymn. You know, christianity is a very environmentally conscious religion in some ways. They recycled the birth of the buddha into "the three wise men" regardless of how much less sense it made taken out of its original context. (Instead of a two week round trip to visit the neighbors and see what the court astrologer had to say about the local feudal lord's kid, travel thousands of miles across a desert and find a single hut in a single city navigating by the stars. Uh-huh. Travel time from the orient to the middle east would have been how long back then, a year each way? And it's just _you_, not the rest of the people who studied the same astrological tradition you did. Oh, and this won't attract attention, nor will delivering a king's ransom affect the child's upbringing ( ... )
