How interesting -- perhaps you should have given a presentation at the Social Media Camp. This would certainly be a different take on the social web phenomenon. People who are dreaming up of new applications to make their lives more efficient are forgetting that the majority of the population can't be convinced to use all that in the first place.

Your experience is not entirely unexpected, though. People who are active on Twitter and Facebook are often voracious seekers of information. They like to keep up with everything that's going on. No wonder they aren't unaware of their class schedules.

As an aside, I still don't see why you are supposed to make heroic efforts to cram the information down the throats of irresponsible students. If you made attempts to contact them through the usual channels (such as email), you've done your part, and if they don't check their emails, they should live with the consequences (e.g. failing to graduate in time). Does your management expect you to protect irresponsible students from their own
