I think it's usually one or the other. But there's no reason we can't enjoy ourselves and have both!

It was noisy outside, with people in wild costumes - and those that had been turned into their costumes - running around carrying on with the business of getting candy or attending parties

It didn't really matter what X's name was to Belphegor or, much less, what his motives were for playing with the witches like they had. All that mattered was that the prince had someone to play with now that wasn't any of the Varia.

It wasn't like he particularly liked or disliked the Varia. They were all well and fine on their own, but it was much like the difference between staying home to play with one's siblings and going out to play with a new friend. And, when one of his siblings was more prone to attempt to molest him than fight him properly, Belphegor made the obvious choice.

Still in his uniform, not much one for costumes, he hummed beneath his breath as he entered the basement, fair warning for the other if this was an attack (which he secretly hoped it was, the only thing more fun than playing with this kid would be playing against him).

Humming? Taking a quick peek outside the unit he was lurking in, first, X smiled. His newest accomplice was here.

"Over here," X called playfully, throwing a Tootsie-pop at Belphegor's head. He's already eaten most of the candy he'd collected (and since he was such a cute-looking kid, he'd gotten a lot) but nobody'd ever told him that he shouldn't play with his food, too.

A knife caught the tootsie-pop, burying into it with a crack and Belphegor reached down to salvage some of the bigger pieces of the shattered candy and popped them into his mouth with a crunch. He pocketed the knife shifting to pull himself up onto the nearest empty surface.

"Aaah, I didn't even get to go trick-or-treating with all the excitement," he commented.
