On a night of darkness like this one, I wonder what would Van Gogh would have painted from his asylum window instead of the famous "Starry Night".

Of course, there is the possibility that without the stars, he would have painted nothing, without inspiration.

Or perhaps something else. Perhaps he would have begun following Gaugin again, or mutilated himself further. Or, with the lack of inspiration, killed himself earlier than he did.
