Do you really think we can think of fandoms as genres? This does sound interesting, though to be honest it's kind of difficult for me to wrap my head around it, probably because there are so many genres within the fic world itself. For example, how would a HP romance/humor fic be different from an Avatar romance/humor fic, considering the franchises themselves? I'm sure some defining features within seperate fandoms could be found, but for now I can't think of any, seeing as so much depends on the authors themselves, their preferred style, experiences, heck, even age - so I guess what I wanted to say is, could you elaborate on that idea a little? I'm intrigued.

Also, I'm totally jealous of the types of conferences you go to. Fan convents are the only thing I can count on over here and I don't even participate in those...
