Title: Day Off

Characters: Ten/Rose
Genre: Fluff
Happy!Who Table 3: Prompt #2-Sweet
Disclaimer: Oh, lordy how I wish it was all mine...but it's not. *sigh*
Summary: The sugar content in this is enough to cause a diabetes. It's utterly shameful how fluffy this is. This is so not like me. You have been warned.
This makes a bit more sense if you read Prompt #1 (Clock) called
"Midnight Snack" but you really don't have to. Technically it's a continuation, but it can stand on it's own.

She should have known better really. To assume she'd be allowed to sleep in after a night of cookies and talking about absolutely nothing in particular was foolish. It occurred to her that a midnight snack involving copious amounts of refined sugar may not be the best idea for an ADHD poster child.
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" he said as he bounded into her room. Rose shot him an evil look and chucked an aptly named throw pillow at him.
"Oi! Behave yourself or I'll take back the surprise!" the Doctor said sternly but amused.
"Does it involve me and a bed?" she grumbled. She missed the shocked and slightly self-conscious look that flicked across his face before he broke out his 1000 watt smile.
"Nope. Come on!"
She yawned and stumbled her way to the shower. After getting ready, she headed to the console room. When she got there, the Doctor glanced up. "About time. I was getting ready to form a search party." Wandering over to the couch and laying down, she asked "Mmmm...so what's this surprise?" Her eyes closed involuntarily.
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?" he said in a low tone. She opened her eyes and found herself almost nose to nose with him as he crouched down in front of her makeshift cot.
She sat up abruptly. "Right then, surprise me." Suddenly she was very awake.
The Doctor bounded over the the console and flipped a few switches. "We, Rose Tyler, are having a day off." She eyed him suspiciously as the TARDIS ground to a halt. "What?" he asked with wide eyed innocence. At least, with as much innocence as he could muster.
"Riiiight." She raised an eyebrow to express her complete lack of belief but followed him out the TARDIS doors.
Rose was greeted by bright sunshine made brighter by reflections off of natural spring pools and pink tinted sand and marble. "Nice, huh?" he whispered in her ear. She smiled and took in more of the scenery. There was a building that looked like a cross between a Roman courtyard and a tiki hut. It had pillars made of the same pinkish marble but the thatched grass roof gave it a tropical feel. The breeze was warm and there were chairs and smaller huts peppered around the pools. Tall plants resembling large blade of grass, some towering over the main building, provided additional shade. "Where are we?" she asked with a grin.
"Richieda V. It's basically one big health resort. Top notch, in fact. Only the best for royalty, celebrities and the like. Your wish is their command type of place." He grinned, obviously pleased with himself.
She didn't bother to deflate his ego this time. Throwing her arms around him and giving him a tight squeeze she exclaimed "This is perfect!" The night before, she had mentioned her sore and aching muscles as she stiffly got up to go back to bed. He had smiled sympathetically and gave her a hug and sent her on her way. This morning he had brought her to the perfect remedy.
"Let's go!"

Rose spent the entire day being spoiled and pampered. There were no monsters lurking, no diabolical maniacs trying to hijack the leadership, just massages and spa treatments. All in all a very relaxing morning. Lunch consisted of fresh fruits from a dozen planets and dessert was chocolates and sweets from the resorts top chef. After lunch they went for a swim in one of the springs.
When they were done they sat side by side in the lounge chairs, watching the purple sunset. The Doctor kept trying to nick Rose's chocolates having long ago polished off his own. More than once all he'd managed to do was pull back stinging fingers from a patented Tyler Slap.
"This was sweet of you. Thank you." Rose said sleepily.
He smiled as he watched her start to doze off. Once her heard a tiny snore, he whispered "No, thank you."
Glancing down, he grinned mischievously and popped her last chocolate in his mouth.
