TITLE: Wake Up Call
AUTHOR: Brio
WORDS: 1500ish
RATING: PG for mild swearing
SUMMARY: It's morning, it's early and Dianna doesn't remember downloading that song...
NOTES: Second fic. It's fluff. Absolute fluff. I'm still getting into writing things where I actually finish them. The idea came from the twitter/tumblr post about the 5am wake up call. I've started writing another one that's pretty similar, but longer and more porn-y... not sure when I'll get that finished though... anyway...
Dianna’s been staring at her phone for roughly a minute, confused, convinced that she’s not actually awake yet. It felt as though she’d only slept for a few minutes.
But she must be awake, because she feels the phone vibrating in her hand. And that’s Lea’s picture on the screen. It’s the music that throws her though. It isn’t Lea’s ringtone. Then phone goes black and she frowns, again too tired to realise that it had stopped because she didn’t answer.
//I believe in miracles….
//Where you from? You sexy thing…
The song starts again and Dianna nearly drops the phone, her clumsiness getting the better of her. She answers it and brings it to her ear, brushing the hair off her face.
“Hello?” she asks tentatively.
“Morning baby,” a bright voice comes over the line. Dianna feels a smile slide across her face quickly followed by a huge yawn, “Di?”
“What time is it?” Dianna asks, too scared to look at the clock on her bedside cabinet.
“Couple of minutes after five,” Lea says. Dianna can hear cupboards being opened and closed and a kettle boiling, “I thought you had your alarm set for five…” Dianna closes her eyes and sinks back against her pillows, rubbing her free hand over her forehead. It had been six hours since she’d kissed Lea goodbye at the front door, six hours since she’d fallen into bed with a grin on her face, “Oh shit!” Lea exclaims, “I’m sorry…you don‘t have to be there until eight, do you? Shit.”
“Shhh…” Dianna soothes her girlfriend, “It’s okay. I’ll nap in the trailer when I get to the set. How many coffees have you had so far?”
“Just started my second,” she says brightly, “I’m about to feed the cats, take a quick shower then drive over to pick you up. I’ll bring coffee and bagels.”
“I’ll need that coffee,” Dianna says opening her eyes and yawning again, “I miss Claude and Sheila.”
“I’ll take them over tomorrow after work… or maybe you could stay over tomorrow?” Lea says, “Claude, come say hello to your other mommy…” Dianna’s heart melts a little when she hears Lea talk like that and the grin creeps across her face again. She can hear purring before Lea speaks again, “He misses you too. Sheila too. Or she would if she wasn’t hiding under my bed destroying another pair of knee socks.”
“Lee?” Dianna asks, interrupting Lea’s early morning babble mode. When the caffeine wore off, usually around lunchtime, Lea would be calmer, much less prone to babbling, somewhat grouchy.
“Hmm?” Lea murmurs, clearly distracted by the cats.
“Maybe skip the shower and come straight here? Not much point in you having two showers…” Dianna tails off and a blush settles on her cheeks. This grabs Lea’s attention and she chuckles softly.
“See you soon, baby,” she says and hangs up. Dianna drops the phone onto her bed and smiles smugly to herself before grabbing the phone and calling Lea back, “You can’t even go a minute without me, can you?” Lea asks. Dianna can imagine the smirk on her face.
“Hot Chocolate, seriously?” Dianna asks and Lea bursts into husky laughter before hanging up the phone. Dianna grins to herself and pulls the blankets up tighter around her, determined to get a few more minutes sleep before Lea’s arrival and that shower.
