TITLE: The Unerring Wisdom of Christopher Colfer (And How He Won Twenty Bucks)
WORDS: 3600ish
RATING: NC-17 (still fluff though)
SUMMARY: Jenna hosts a Rock Band and take-out night. Lea confesses stuff.
NOTES: I started writing this back when I first got into Achele (around February) and never finished it. But now I’m failing at writing angst so I’m revisiting all my unfinished fluff fics. Beta’d by the horrendously cute
darchino (though don’t say that to her face ;) She’ll hurt you) and thanks to
ilsu for helping me out when I first started it and having faith in my smut-writing abilities. Also, the title is awful.
Filming ends for the day and everyone has a day off tomorrow for the first time in a month. It’s Jenna’s turn to host a night in for the gleeks and everyone is going to her apartment for dinner and drinks and Rock Band.
As soon as the words leave her mouth, everyone turns to look at Lea who in turn, rolls her eyes.
“I still can’t believe that you don’t get extra points for improvising,” Lea says, “Anyway, I have a photoshoot in the morning, so I can’t stay too late.” She starts to rummage through her bag for her car keys while the rest of the cast glance at each other warily, the events of the last Rock Band competition still fresh in their memories, “Di, I can pick you up if you want?” Dianna nods, “Anyone else need a ride tonight?” Amber and Chris raise their hands tentatively, “I’ll pick you guys up first then. Seven?” The two nod in silence and Lea flashes them a grin and waves as she leaves.
“Oh god,” Chris mutters, placing his head in his hands.
“Sorry guys,” Jenna says glumly, “It might not be that bad.”
“Not that bad?” Amber asks, “She made Mark cry!”
“Hey! I was not crying!” Mark protests, holding up his hands. Everyone scoffs, “Okay, she was really mean…”
“Is it too late to change my mind? Can I swap with someone?” Jenna asks looking panicked. Dianna walks into the middle of the fray and holds up her hands.
“I’ll talk to her,” she says. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief. If Lea is going to listen to anyone, it would be her best friend and former roommate.
“Thanks, Di,” Jenna says gratefully, “See you guys at seven then!” Everyone makes their way out to the parking lot and Dianna drives over to Lea’s place, trying to word what she’s going to say as nicely and supportively as possible.
Lea’s a little confused when she opens her door to find the blonde there but steps to one side, allowing her to pass.
“I thought I was picking you up in a couple of hours,” she says, following Dianna into the living room. Claude and Sheila immediately wind themselves around the blonde’s legs and she bends down to stroke the cats that the two share custody of.
“We need to talk,” Dianna says, sitting down on the couch.
“Is everything okay?” Lea asks, looking worried. She joins Dianna on the couch and wraps her hands around her best friend‘s.
“It’s about… Rock Band,” Dianna says dramatically, allowing a little smirk to work across her lips. Lea raises an eyebrow, “I know how competitive you are… and I love that about you, but you need to relax. It’s just a game.”
“But…” Lea starts to protest but bites back whatever she was going to say.
“It’s just a game,” Dianna reiterates, “You’re an amazing singer, Lea. You don’t need to beat everyone to prove that. And please don’t make Mark cry again.” Lea blushes slightly and grins, “Although it’s funny to watch him cry, please don’t do it again. I don’t think his masculinity can survive another round of your Rock Band-related put-downs.”
“Okay,” she concedes, “I’ll tone it down.”
“Great,” Dianna says, jumping to her feet, pleased that this is going well. The two hug and Lea pecks Dianna on the cheek.
“See you in a couple of hours,” Lea responds, waving the blonde off.
**
Dianna skips down the steps outside her apartment to Lea’s waiting car. Amber and Chris are in the back seat, checking Twitter and whispering between the two of them, sharing giggles.
“Nice boots,” Lea comments as Dianna climbs in the passenger side with a grin.
“Ah, they’re yours!” Dianna blushes, “I knew I couldn’t remember buying them… can I give you them back tomorrow?”
“Keep them, they look better on you,” Lea says with a wave of her hand, “Oh, the vet phoned. There’s a cancellation tomorrow morning. Could you maybe take the cats for their vaccinations?”
“Sure,” Dianna says, “Should I call now to confirm the appointment?” Lea shakes her head, “You already did, didn’t you? What if I couldn’t take them?” Dianna wants to be annoyed at how presumptuous Lea is sometimes, but the look the brunette gives her causes her to smile instead of frown.
“I’d just have to cancel it in the morning,” she says with a shrug, “If you can’t take them, it’s okay. I kept the appointment for Friday just incase.”
“I’ll take them,” Dianna says with a smile, “I miss them. I feel like I’m being a bad mother.”
“You’re not,” Lea says, reaching over to pat Dianna’s thigh, “You can have them all weekend if you want.” In the backseat, Amber and Chris are watching the two with interest. Amber’s phone beeps and she glances down.
I bet they’re together by the end of the night.
She sneaks a sideways glance at Chris who is still watching the two in the front of the car.
Twenty bucks?
He glances at his phone and smiles before giving her a thumbs up. Chris has spent the better part of six months convincing the other cast members that Lea and Dianna are somehow involved. You just have to look at the photos of them at awards ceremonies or parties. The two rarely leave each other’s side and when they do, it isn’t long before they reappear, locked at the hip, shoulder, hand… his gaydar pings whenever he’s around Lea but Dianna, being Dianna, is always a bit of a mystery to him. Amber and Jenna have continually dismissed his theories but sometimes he’s sure he’s almost got them convinced.
“My mom called just after you left,” Lea says, concentrating on driving now, “She’s flying in on Monday for a week or so, just to make sure I’m taking care of myself or whatever. She mentioned dinner or lunch. She misses you. My dad says hi as well.” .
“I miss them too,” Dianna says, “I can’t wait to see your mom again. It feels like it’s been years since I saw your family. Maybe we should go up there if we ever get a weekend off together. We could go see a show, you can drag me around more of New York…” Amber and Chris exchange a look and that Lea catches in the rearview mirror.
“What was that look for?” she asks them, flicking her gaze back to the road. They’re nearly at Jenna’s apartment.
“Nothing,” Chris says in a sing-song voice.
“Not a thing,” Amber agrees. Lea narrows her eyes slightly, not liking being excluded by the two.
“Lea! Turn!” Dianna reminds her. Lea changes lanes and pulls up at Jenna’s apartment. They’re the last to arrive and Cory and Mark are setting up the guitars and drums. Lea’s eyes glaze over when she sees the microphone but Dianna’s arm stops her. The petite brunette huffs and folds her arms across her chest. In the kitchen, Jenna is pouring over take-out menus with Naya and Heather.
“Cory and Mark want pizza, you guys are having Mexican, Kevin and Harry want sushi…” Jenna says, scribbling on a notepad. She shoots a grin at the new arrivals and pushes the hair out of her eyes, “Just in time. We were going to order without you. Grab a menu.”
“I’ll have whatever you’re having,” Dianna says to Lea, sliding an arm around the shorter girl’s waist and resting her head on her shoulder, “You always pick the best food.” Lea smiles and picks a few dishes from the Thai menu for the two to share. In the lounge, Rock Band has started. The guys are playing Beatles songs and when the girls join them, Mark shrinks away from Lea who punches him on the arm gently.
“Ha,” she says and settles down on the couch. Dianna joins her, a beer in one hand and a soft drink for Lea in the other, “Thanks,” she flashes the blonde a smile and pops the can open, resting her hand on Dianna’s thigh.
In the corner of the room, Chris pokes Amber in the side and gestures silently to the two girls. Amber rolls her eyes and explains quietly to Jenna, Naya and Heather about the bet.
“I want in,” Naya says, “I’m with Chris. They’ve been extra-handsy lately. I have to share a trailer with them, it’s kinda sickening.”
“I’m with Amber,” Heather says, sticking her tongue out at Naya.
“You’re going down, blondie,” Naya says. Chris sniggers, turning it into a cough as Heather turns a deep shade of red, “Grow up, Colfer. Jenna?”
“I don’t know,” she says, glancing over her shoulder at the pair on the couch, “I’m going to sit this one out. I don’t think they’d like us making bets about them.”
“Jenna, your turn to sing!” Kevin calls over and she escapes the group quickly.
After dinner, which arrives in stages since that they’ve ordered from five different takeouts, the competition hots up. Lea takes a turn on the drums and, as usual, gets a high score but gives up the sticks to Mark graciously, heading back to the sofa to Dianna’s side.
“Impressed?” she whispers in the blonde’s ear.
“Suitably,” Dianna replies, twining her fingers into Lea’s and giving the brunette a smile. She’s starting to feel slightly buzzed from the beers she’s had and has switched to water since she has to take the cats to the vet in the morning, “What time do you have to be up for that shoot?”
“Eight,” Lea replies, tensing slightly as she watches Kevin hit a note slightly flat. The screen shows a ‘Perfect’, “Ridiculous,” Lea mutters under her breath. Dianna squeezes Lea’s hand, “Sorry… I’m getting picked up at nine. Do you want to do something tomorrow night?”
“Sure,” Dianna says, “DVD night?”
“Read my mind,” Lea says with a grin, resting her forehead against Dianna’s. Chris, sitting next to Dianna, lets out a squeak and jabs Heather sharply.
“Ow, Jesus, Chris!” she exclaims, tearing her gaze away from watching Naya play the guitar, irritated at the interruption, “Ooh!” Heather pokes Amber in the arm and they all watch the two in the corner. Lea leans in to whisper something in Dianna’s ear, making her blush furiously.
“Lea, do you want to sing?” Naya holds out the microphone. The turmoil on Lea’s face is intense. She whispers something else in Dianna’s ear which makes the blonde laugh and pulls herself off the couch to take the microphone from the Latina. Chris leans over to Dianna.
“Hello,” he says tipsily, a huge smile on his face.
“Hi,” Dianna replies, wrenching her eyes from the brunette to face Chris.
“How are things?” he asks, waggling his eyebrows. Dianna laughs.
“Things are fine,” she says, “Things are very good. And with you?” She’s wondering where he’s going with this conversation.
“Never better,” he responds, “When you get married, can I be the Maid of Honour for one of you guys?” Dianna laughs a little more, glancing back at Lea who’s intensely focused on the TV screen.
“Chris, if that ever happens, you’ll be the first person I call,” she says, pushing herself up from the couch and heading into the kitchen to fill up her glass with tap water. She hears whistles and cheers as another high score is set and Lea appears in the doorway.
“How am I doing?” she asks, folding her arms across her chest, “Your turn to sing.”
“You sing for me,” Dianna says, “I’m not sure if I like you this… uncompetitive. It’s just not right.” Lea’s face lights up and she disappears from the room.
“She says I can sing! In your face, Salling,” she hears Lea say and bites back a smile.
“Ow! Lea!” Dianna hears Mark whine and the blonde chuckles quietly.
“Lea!” she calls, heading back into the lounge.
**
Lea drops Amber off first, then Chris, who leaves them with kisses on both cheeks and a reminder to Dianna to call him if there are any developments. Lea eyes Dianna suspiciously after he leaves the car.
“What was that about?” she asks, driving towards Dianna’s apartment.
“He wants to be Maid of Honour at our wedding,” Dianna says nonchalantly. Lea lets out a laugh.
“Yours or mine?” she says.
“He didn’t specify,” Dianna replies. They’re silent until they reach Dianna’s, “Wait here,” Dianna says, leaning over to press a kiss to Lea’s cheek. She jumps out of the car and runs up the stairs to her apartment, grabbing a change of clothes and her toothbrush, throwing them haphazardly into a rucksack.
Down in the car park, Lea has put on some music and is tapping away on her phone, biting her bottom lip nervously. She sends a message to Jon first. He responds straight away, offering his words of wisdom on the situation. Jenna is next. Same response. She smiles when Dianna opens the door and tosses her rucksack in the back of the car.
“You didn’t have to bring your pyjamas,” Lea says, sliding her phone into her pocket.
“Who said I have pyjamas in that bag?” Dianna asks, pulling on her seatbelt, quirking an eyebrow. Lea feels her throat go dry but smiles. They don’t talk on the way to Lea’s, nor as they take the elevator to her floor. Dianna breaks the silence first when they’re safe inside the brunette’s apartment, “Are you okay?”
“I have to tell you something,” Lea says bluntly, “I have to tell you because I feel like I’ll go out of my mind if I don’t.”
“O… kay,” Dianna says, butterflies flaring up in her stomach as she watches the anguish on Lea’s face. The brunette takes Dianna’s hands and leads her to the couch. She takes a deep breath.
“I love you,” Lea says. Blurts. She doesn’t mean to say it so bluntly. The words hang in the air between the two and Lea opens her mouth to speak again but can’t think of anything else to say. Dianna is staring at her curiously.
“I love you too,” she replies, giving Lea’s hands a squeeze, “Do you want tea? Or hot chocolate or something?” She starts to get off the couch but the brunette tugs her down again.
“Forgive me for sounding a little… petulant… but I just declared my love for you and you’re acting like it’s a bit of a non-event,” Lea says sounding a little ticked off.
“You declare your love for me most days of the week, Lea,” Dianna says, “And I love you too. You’re my best friend…” The smile slides off her face and her jaw drops, “Oh… OH! You love me?” Lea nods once, her gaze now somewhere to the right of Dianna’s head, her heart thudding out of rhythm, a slight ache in her chest.
“Hot chocolate,” Lea says, “Ignore everything else I said. I’ll have hot chocolate.” She hops off the couch, all but running into the kitchen with tears blinding her. She fumbles around, grabbing two mugs from the cupboard, setting them down on the counter before a sob erupts from her chest. She curses herself inwardly and reaches for the paper towels. Dianna beats her to them though, passing her one and placing a hand on her back, rubbing it in circles, “I’m sorry.”
“No, you’re not,” Dianna says, smiling warmly, “How long have you felt like this?”
“Don’t make me answer that,” Lea says with a groan, turning to face Dianna, “A long, long time. But forget I said anything.”
“Lea, I love you too,” Dianna says softly, taking the brunette’s hands and linking their fingers together, “I’m sorry my reaction was… well, underwhelming… but I’m so used to hearing you say those words…” Dianna bites her bottom lip as she tries not to grin and ducks her head to press her lips to the brunette’s, their bodies melding into one as she pushes Lea back against the counter.
The kiss is unhurried at first. Familiar. It’s not their first, after all. Hot chocolate forgotten, Dianna leads them out of the kitchen towards Lea’s bedroom. This is the least vocal Dianna ever recalls Lea being in the bedroom. The brunette sits on the edge of the bed as Dianna strips off her clothes before advancing towards the shorter woman, bottom lip caught in her teeth again.
“Hi,” Lea whispers as Dianna reaches her.
“Hey,” Dianna replies, leaning down to push Lea back against the blankets, “You appear to be fully dressed.” Lea looks down and nods, laughing a little.
“Yeah, it does appear that way,” she muses, “Want to help me out?” Dianna needs no further encouragement and Lea’s clothes join hers on the floor. Dianna lies on her side, fingers trailing up and down Lea’s stomach, the skin prickling beneath her fingertips, “You’re kind of beautiful, Lady Di.” Lea’s hand presses against Dianna’s chest, fingers spreading, covering Dianna’s heart.
“And you’re kind of short,” Dianna replies, pressing a soft kiss to Lea’s jaw.
“You’re freakishly tall,” Lea protests and Dianna rolls her eyes, resting her head on her hand as she goes back to drawing patterns across Lea’s stomach.
“I’ll have you know that I’m of perfectly average height,” Dianna says, spelling her name out with her fingertip, “Dwarf.”
“Giant,” Lea retorts, arching slightly when Dianna takes her hand away, trying to retain the contact.
“Munchkin,” Dianna whispers in Lea’s ear, letting her tongue dance around the edge before sucking lightly on her earlobe.
“Goliath,” Lea replies, pulling Dianna’s face around to meet hers, lips clashing together this time. Dianna’s fingers grasp at Lea’s waist, determined not to slip southwards just yet. Their bodies blend into one again as Dianna slides her thigh between Lea’s legs, “Please Di.” Dianna drags her short fingernails down Lea’s body, enjoying the feel of the shorter woman straining upwards against her, her wetness already seeping onto the blonde’s thigh. Dianna’s fingers skirt past the brunette’s clit causing her to whimper, “Please.”
Dianna’s fingers, two at first, slide between the brunette’s folds and she feels Lea clench around her, moaning Dianna’s name softly in the blonde’s ear. Soft pleas quickly turn into louder demands.
“More,” the brunette moans, her body trembling as Dianna’s other hand cups her face and their lips meet in an urgent, frenzied kiss.
Pale and tanned skin slide against each other as Dianna’s fingers thrust deep inside the brunette and Lea’s eyes close as she arches her neck back, a guttural moan rising from deep in her chest. Dianna feels unexpected tears prick at the corners of her eyes because, although they’ve had sex, hurried sessions in their trailer between rehearsals and scenes and fooled around during their frequent sleepovers, this is the first time, she’s seen Lea like this. And it’s not something she thinks she’ll be able to give up.
“Babe,” Lea pants, sliding her hands up the blonde’s back, “What’s wrong?” Dianna shakes her head and lowers her head to the brunette’s skin, placing delicate kisses up the column of her neck, her fingers starting up their steady rhythm again.
“I love you,” Dianna whispers in Lea’s ear sending a shiver through the shorter woman’s body, “I love you.” Lea nods, fingers clutching the blonde’s back as her fingers stroke against that spot inside her.
Lea slides a hand between their bodies and feels Dianna gasp against her mouth as she thrusts three fingers deep inside the blonde.
“Fuck,” Dianna breathes, closing her eyes, her hand stilling as the brunette curls her fingers. Lea grins, always amused when the blonde curses.
“Only seems fair,” Lea whispers between laboured breaths, her eyes dark, “I’ve never felt you this wet…” Dianna growls, cutting off the rest of Lea’s words with a hungry kiss.
Thrusting in unison, hips grinding against one another’s, Lea feels the beginning of a tremor. She pulls back from Dianna’s kiss to moan in frustration. The blonde guides Lea’s fingers to her clit as she lets the pad of her thumb nudge against Lea’s thrumming bundle of nerves.
“Just…” Dianna’s eyes roll back and she bites down on her lip, trying to stop the string of words itching to leave her mouth, “There, baby, right there.”
“You feel so good,” Lea’s voice is barely a whisper, her breath hitching as Dianna’s fingers roll and nip and pinch. Their eyes lock together a moment before Lea’s body tenses beneath Dianna’s and she shudders through her orgasm, moaning the blonde’s name over and over. Dianna presses Lea’s fingers against her clit again, drawing quick circles until she collapses against the brunette, a satisfied smile on her lips.
“Mmm,” Lea mumbles, pressing her lips to Dianna’s shoulder, “Love you.”
“Love you too,” Dianna rolls to the side, sliding her arms around the brunette’s waist, holding her tightly as they both succumb to sleep.

“So should I brush off my Maid of Honour’s hat?” Chris asks cheerfully as he bounces up to Dianna when they go back to work. She’s sitting watching Lea and Cory go through the steps to a new number, smiling whenever Lea’s eyes meet hers. She chuckles at Chris and pulls him in for a hug, whispering to him that he should keep the hat on standby. He pulls away and makes a beeline for Amber.
“Make sure she gives you the twenty bucks,” Dianna calls after Chris, causing him to stop and turn around, a blush settling on his cheeks. He gives the blonde a sheepish smile before she turns back to her girlfriend, unable to wipe the grin from her face.
