on my tongue, the galaxy's so small. I'll drink it down and watch the world dissolve.

"So tell me from the beginning what happened."

Twelve year-old Jessica toes the ground and wipes her nose with her sleeve like a child much younger than she actually is. Thank goodness the tears have stopped, at least. Much more of that and you may've turned to exorcism after all, vows or no vows. "I already told you," she mutters. And, to be honest, she did, but you're not very good with children and making out what actually happened through her bawling was nearly impossible for someone like you.

"I know," you try to keep your patience, "I just need to make sure."

"Jackie came home from school, but I was playing spook the cat in the attic, so I didn't come down right away. You know spook the cat, right?" You don't, but you nod anyway, not wanting to get sidetracked. With a name like that, you can pretty much guess anyway. "When I got here, he was taking a nap. Right there," she points at a big shabby armchair a seven year-old like Jack would have been able to easily curl into. "I didn't want to kill him, but he just looked so cute ( ... )

It took me awhile to figure out how to warp the prompt into Sherlock pirate AU, but never underestimate me, my friend. Where there's a will, there's a way. Right? Right.

---

You can't bring yourself to sell the ship, so all you can afford to give to Mary when she comes to live with you is a tiny fixer-upper of a house just outside of London. It's more of a cottage, really, but you have big plans for it: new paint inside and out, a little patio maybe, a white picket fence definitely. You can imagine it all, and it gives you something to do in your abundance of free time now that you're no longer sailing with Sher- the Martha Hudson.

Your military pension isn't much, but with your savings from your more recent (if somewhat unspeakable) endeavours, the two of you get by quite nicely. And if things are a little slow-moving and a little too quiet, or if your leg begins to ache, though you know it shouldn't because it can't, you head out to the back and work on the repairs. Paint first, you pick a soft blue for the outside of the house, ( ... )

So I was remembering that there's supposed to be new Sherlock out this month, and was like, HEY WAIT, did Eir do a fic request for Sherlock recently?

And like reread your LJ for the year (I know I had caught some of the posts, but this one must have gotten buried) and found this fic and was like ZOOOOOOOOOMGGGG THERE'S SHERLOCK PIRATE FIC

And then I checked and apparently "recently" was last year BECAUSE OH MY GOD TIME FLIES and I DO NOT CHECK LJ ENOUGH and WTF, SELF? W.T.F.!!

So anyways, I'm a huge dork, but I LOVE THIS FIC.

In fact, I like this way more than I liked the Abominable Bride, which perhaps just means you should get a job writing screenplays for the Beeb. <3 ( ... )

- I've never played Myst, but the Witness makes me think of a modern, really freaking gorgeous Myst. It doesn't really have much in the way of plot, you're just wandering around solving puzzles which doesn't make it sound amazing, but it's kind of hard to explain. We played if for a week straight and I ended up half filling a notebook with little drawings and my phone had like forty pictures of puzzle things we thought were important, and one night Sean came over for drinks and we just turned it on to show him what it was and accidentally ended up playing for a couple of hours because Sean got really into it and wouldn't let us turn it off until we figured out the puzzle we were at. Unfortunately, it's not on PS3, just PS4, though you can also play it on Steam, if that's up your alley (speaking of, have you played Undertale? Completely different game, but the only thing I've ever paid for on Steam and it was super cool, too). The Witness trailer- I am still at horrible job. It's still horrible, and they just relocated me, which sucks ( ... )
