Ehe, whoo. Seven days until Slack Reading Week! :D These are my procrastination-induced drabbles :D They don't end in my doing much work, but they do end in my actually writing ideas that have been floating in my head for months now. :D I spent way too much time trying to fit the last one into my
40baisers themes, but in the end gave up ^_^;; They're in reverse order of liking ^_^;;
title: Guilt
fandom: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
character: Sakura
words: 376
rating: G
spoilers: Outo country (ch 45, eps 23) - spoilers for both, though it's set in the anime.
She can't stay in the café anymore, so lurches to her feet and stumbles out the door. The scene plays over and over in her head. The dark-haired man in the white cloak controlling the Oni, holding her feather. Fai's smile changing into an unfamiliar expression, something more serious. The gentle command that Mokona watch carefully. That Mokona learn everything about the feather so it can tell Syaoran. The order to stay by her side no matter what.
She trips over broken concrete, barely catching herself before she falls. Her vision is blurry.
The Oni attack and Fai fights brilliantly, flipping in the air and bouncing off of walls. She always forgets that Fai is a strong fighter too. But not strong enough. His ankle twists and he can't run anymore, the Oni catch him.
The Oni catch him.
And the look on his face is burned into her memory. Regret and pain and guilt and so many other emotions flitting so quickly across his face before the Oni devoured him. And she can see him caught in the Oni's mouth, legs sticking out in a fashion that could have been comical, were the situation not so dire.
Everything after that is black.
Fai is gone. She knows that. No matter how much she wishes for it, he won't smile anymore. He won't tell jokes or call Kurogane silly names. He won't teach her new recipes or make cakes. Fai is gone.
The guilt is overwhelming. He could have saved himself. He could have run and left her behind. He could have let Mokona help him, in whatever ways it may have been able to. He gave everything up, just so that she would be safe. Just so that they could learn more about her feather. Such kind and wonderful people putting themselves in danger, all for her. Not just Fai, but Kurogane and Syaoran as well. They have no reason to help her. No reason to risk their lives for her beyond kindness and she can't stand it. She won't let anyone else get hurt. She won't let anyone else die for her.
Alone, she stumbles through the streets trance-like, looking for the man in the white cloak. Alone, she she looks for her feather. Alone, she carries the weight of Fai's death.

title: Miss you
fandom: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
pairing: Chi/Fai (HA! I told you I could write a different pairing)
words: 256
rating: G
It's a strange sort of feeling. A pull in her stomach. If she had a stomach, that is. In this particular form, she's lacking in most of the parts she's come to identify with. The feeling is still there, though.
She's always had problems sorting out feelings and emotions. Happy from sad and angry from pleased. They all mix into each other, following rules that make no real sense. When people are happy, they smile. However smiling does not mean a person's happy. Some people smile when they're sad.
Fai used to smile when he was sad.
The feeling is stronger when she thinks of Fai. A peculiar twisting of organs that aren't intact anymore. She would frown, had she a mouth, but she isn't sure she's sad. This isn't quite the same as the sad she's familiar with.
She wishes Fai were there so she could ask him. So she could describe the feeling and have him pat her on the head and give a simple explanation. Everything was so much clearer when he was around. Everything made more sense.
But now she has only the sleeping king for company, as she floats above the freezing water that's been his bed for more time than she can tell. She can't ask King Ashura to explain, sleeping people don't answer questions, that much she knows for certain.
She wonders what Fai's doing now. She wonders when he's coming back - if he's coming back. She wonders what word she should use to describe the feeling that makes her hurt because Fai is gone.

title: Perks
fandom: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
pairing: Kurogane/Fai
words: 200
rating: G
"Poor Kuro-daddy gets nothing but hard jobs. It must be tough to be a father," Mokona decided, watching as Kurogane hefted the majority of the day's purchases while Fai carried only a small bag, just so he could later claim to have helped.
The blond turned to look at Mokona in bewilderment. "Whatever do you mean? A little labour is a small price for all the benefits of being a father. He gets to spend so much time with the kids, and to protect the family. He gets to watch Syaoran and Sakura grow up right in front of him," Fai's eyes glistened as he got caught up in the moment. "He gets to be there every step of the way, involved in his children's lives, watching them do everything from first lifting a sword to falling in love. Really, what more could a father want?"
The ninja leaned his head around the parcels to glare at the wizard who merely waved a hand and laughed it off.
"Well, I suppose there are certain perks of family life that you aren't enjoying, Kuro-nyan, but really, if you want special time alone with mommy, all you have to do is ask."
