She knows you loved her and you shouldn't feel guilty about putting her down. It's better that she didn't have to suffer any more than necessary. Just try and remember that.
You had her for quite a long time, and you've taken the best care of her that you could have. She was taken to the vet when she was ill, and had love and attention.
She probably escaped outside because she wanted to say her goodbyes and dig a spot to die in. Most animals do when they are about to die, so to speak. My dog did this when he was about to pass on from diabetes. They later had to put him to sleep.
So, I wouldn't feel bad that you did that. In fact, if she was truly suffering like you said, then you did a good thing in not letting her suffering continue. I believe you are a good person, and that you cared for her the best that you were able to.
That's awful. :( I'm so sorry for you and for Lucrezia. It sounds like you did your best to care for her -- kidney disease is really difficult to treat, in part because there are often no symptoms until it's really bad. :(
