Holy crap, not to be all like "oh Michael and I are exactly alike!" but sniffling is the number TWO sound I can't stand, after eating and chewing noises. I always had to bring earplugs for winter tests and finals because everyone had colds and I couldn't concentrate. When I was younger and even to this day, certain people will sniffle (ex: my mom) and I had to imitate it... it was like a compulsion and if I didn't imitate it, I felt "crazy" and suffocating, and that was only relieved by imitating the sniffle. I'd sit there and tell myself "she can't help it, she's not trying to get on my nerves, it's just a sound, I do it, too" but none of it helped. Interestingly, although ALL sniffling sounds drove me crazy, I only felt the compulsion to imitate a small handful of people. Another sound that makes me crazy is loud swallowing.
