Open Office Is Causing Me Pain

The literary agency doesn't use Open Office so Michael and I have been copy and pasting and then fixing the formatting of my manuscripts. From now on I'll always use Microsoft Works-_- Though I'm going to finish my current short story in Open Office, but short stories are a lot less time-consuming to fix than a novel. I'm not sure how to with Works. With Microsoft Office I do, but I've never used Works. Edit: or is it Microsoft Word you're now using and not Works?

With OpenOffice, you should be able to save your manuscripts as whatever format they want them in.

For some reason every time I try to save an Open Office document as something else, something pops up saying the formatting will change (and it does).

Do they accept PDFs? OpenOffice can save to PDF without affecting formatting (though of course, the resulting file isn't editable).
