my uncle's cabin

I've been trying to recreate my uncle's A-frame cabin. I have such fond memories of visiting as a kid, before it became a rental. A member of Alice in Chains rented it in the early '90s, and they used to practice there. No need to worry about noise when you're out on a mountain. *lol* The place burned to the ground roughly 10 years ago, and no one ( Read more... )

I have to admit, I really freaking hate those kinds of roofs. I've never seen a real roof that did that. lol They look so ridiculously high and awkward.

LOL! I really love a-frames, and have always wanted to make this cabin. I wish I could make it even more steep. I like sharp things though.

Haha, at least in real life a-frame roofs have a purpose. There's actually rooms as close to the top as possible.

There's a lot of empty, unused space with these. But, it's the same with high vaulted ceilings. I used to always wonder how my uncle would wash that top window though.

Hello new friend!

I'm going to be seeing some cute little houses like that up in the mountains this weekend! I love how they look! When I was little and my parents told me they're called "A-frames," my response was that there was no horizontal line through the middle so really they should be "upside-down-V-frames." Hee.

Hello, hello!

I noticed they were referred to as both in the tutorials. You must not be alone in that logic. The inside beam/loft makes the A-line, if you were to slice through it. *giggles* I love them too. I wouldn't mind having one myself someday. Working on the interior of this brought back a lot of memories.

P.S. Icon love!
