☩ Video, 004 ☩ Church sneak-peek, feel free to Action!

[It's a cold rainy Sunday afternoon and Cesare is not in the posh Edennel apartments he had called home but the aging building he has been working tirelessly at renovating into a proper sort of church. Currently he's standing in the cathedral itself, and his voice echoes in the distinct acoustical way churches have.]

Good afternoon. I would like to ( Read more... )

[Frederic had seen the announcement on the Dreamberry and thought it best to go to the church himself. Once there, he looks about and eventually sits down in one of the pews with an expression of slight sadness.]

[The Cardinal is busy, as he has been the past few weeks, but today he had cleared his schedule for just such appearances. He was looking forward to getting to know some of Somarium better.

A forlorn boy was not exactly what he had predicted to see though.

Cesare approaches slowly, a friendly and calm expression on his face.]

Good afternoon. May I help you?

[Frederic looks up from his moment of silence towards the Cardinal and tries to smile for him, after all he was someone of the church or so the composer could tell. The Cardinal may also notice that while he looks rather young, his deep mature adult voice says otherwise.]

Oh good afternoon, I heard your announcement on the Dreamberry and thought I could come here seeking some comfort.

[Gathering his robes, Cesare quietly moves to the man and sits in the row in front of the one man is seated at. He leans against the back of the pew and looks straight ahead.]

A church should be a place of comfort. I hope you may find it here.

[He ponders for a few moments then stares at Cesare, his expression remaining the same.]

Thank you, though I'm not certain I'm very favorable in the eyes of God any longer.

In my faith it is the Holy Spirit which helps us discern what God may think of what we do and how we do it. Priests study for years and still can do naught but make, if you will, a good guess. It is a difficult impossibility.

[Cesare quiets a moment, then turns and rests an arm on the back of the bench to look back at the man.]

I would not be sure of his displeasure with you. His love is as infinite as his inscrutability.

I doubt even God can forgive the sins I have committed. [He sighs, but looks at Cesare for a moment or two.] Forgive my rudeness, I had almost forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Frederic Francois Chopin, it is a pleasure to meet you.

[There is no recognition on his part, he's from too far in the past to have heard such a famous name in the future. He merely smiles and bows his head respectfully as he would any other man.]

I am Cardinal Borgia, and a Catholic. If you are not familiar with that church we believe that nearly every sin is forgivable if you confess and pay your assigned penitence.

If you are truly repentant I am quite certain God sees that.

[He bows in return to Cesare politely and the expression goes from a frown and into a sad smile.]

I am of the Catholic faith as well, Cardinal. Though even with a confession and penitence, I am still uncertain if God can forgive my sins.

[There is another Catholic in Somarium! Cesare feels a little relief at that. Here he had begun to think he was the only one.]

Then you know it is for a man trained in priesthood to interpret God's will in these matters.

Or perhaps it is more that? Maybe it is that you do not regret your sins? [His tone is friendly, conversational]

[Frederic only sighs and looks troubled once again.]

Oh no Cardinal, I do regret what I have done. It's simply that... [He ponders for a moment, then asks him a simple question.] Would God forgive someone who went against their fate?

That is a very deep question, for greater minds of theology than myself. Great philosophers have argued for an age over such questions.

[Cesare looks forward, off toward the far wall and he goes quiet in thought.]

If you would ask me my personal opinion I would say, that were God to fault us for following where our inner voices take us then perhaps what we thought was our fate was not actually.

I would say that when we make our own fate, there could be said to be the hand of God in that.

God gave man free will, I understand this. However if we have a set path given to us by God from birth, is is wrong to go astray from that path because our free will says that something may be better for us than what is predetermined?

[Frederic turns his head up towards the ceiling of the church and sighs sadly.] I thought coming to the church would help me seek an answer as I cannot find it on my own.

You misunderstand me, Sir.

[Cesare watches him curiously, wondering what it is this man turned from and what was so important he would cause himself turmoil over it.]

How do you know it was not this secondary path that God fated for you all along? Perhaps the true test of faith was in deciding to follow the more difficult path and find your true, hidden, destiny.

[Lowering his head and turning his eyes back to Cesare, Frederic gives him yet another sad smile.]

Cardinal, would it be possible for me to have time for a confession? I think it is time for me to stop hiding my feelings inside and confess to the wrongs I have done.

[A slow nod and Cesare stands, hands moving down his front to straighten his robes out and he motions toward the confession booth.]

Indeed, Sir. After you.
