☩ Video, 004 ☩ Church sneak-peek, feel free to Action!

[It's a cold rainy Sunday afternoon and Cesare is not in the posh Edennel apartments he had called home but the aging building he has been working tirelessly at renovating into a proper sort of church. Currently he's standing in the cathedral itself, and his voice echoes in the distinct acoustical way churches have.]

Good afternoon. I would like to ( Read more... )

In my world, it's believed by many people that what's said in a confessional, or between a person and their religious leader in private, is quite personal and worth being protected from other ears, such as the police, whatever the contents of those admissions. Will your church hold to that?

It is the same in my world. I was groomed from birth to be a priest and have been in training for this position my entire life. I take the vows of my position very seriously.

Then I may visit soon. It would be nice to clear my head of some things.

I welcome your visit. I will be here all this evening overseeing things.

What was your name?

Kazutaka Muraki. I've been a resident here for nearly a year, amazingly.

That is amazing. I am here broaching on a few months at the most but stories like yours remind me that the efforts I make in being a servant of the city are in anything but vain. I may be here for a long while.

Some have been here far longer.

I have to remove stitches from my hand and check on a personal project, but I can be over after that.

[And Muraki does head over later, hoping there was no research done into his Dreamberry posts because the last one was more than a little embarrassing. Nobody needed to see it even if he still doesn't feel completely together at all.

He's dressed decently, as always, and hair covers his right eye very carefully.]

[Cesare is in his pristine, bright red Cardinal's robes. He fiddles with the huge ring on his hand as he oversees a few men working on some of the lighting on the wall beside the pews. Movement catches his attention and he turns with a stern look to see a visitor.

His expression lightens and he bows somewhat formally.]

Good evening, Sir. May I be of service?

I spoke with you earlier about your confessional. If you're free, I think I can say what I need to.

Yes, of course. [Cesare glances at the workers then turns and begins walking between aisles of pews toward the large, dark wooden structure of the confessional.]

Please. [He motions toward the side the confessor sits, moving into his half to settle himself. He's hoping this is a good one.]

[Muraki follows quietly and looks around. This is a nice place, even if it feels strange to be inside a church for the first time since his arrival in Somarium.

Once in the booth, he sits and takes a slow breath. Where should he begin?]

You're new here, so you have likely no idea that I'm a convicted murderer here. I've been attempting to change my ways, but everyone doubts that a monster like me is capable of change. Maybe that is what led me to what I did several weeks ago.

[Lord.

Yes this was already proving to be extremely interesting.

Cesare is quiet as a thinks how to handle this.]

And it is this incident several weeks ago you wish to speak of?

It is.

I was greedy for power and took a boy's eye because I saw potential in it. Somehow, a relative of his tracked me down to get it back.

[His breath trembles a little. Muraki hates being this upset over something, but maybe explaining will help.]

[The confessional barrier between priest and parishioner gives a small sense of anonymity and privacy but you could, were you to look through the lattice to the other, see their expression.

Therefore it takes a great deal of conscious effort to maintain a straight face after such a confession.]

Why were you greedy for this possible power?
