the time Jongin discovers that bullies have hidden Yixing’s winter coat from him and refuses to wear his own down jacket when Yixing wouldn’t take it (you’re so stupid, Yixing had said, while walking back to the dorms through the cold);

this makes me so sad..like really.

He watched every tear trail down Yixing’s face and wondered how many have hit the floor of the stage, and how many have hit the floor of the practice room back in Seoul in the past years.

He wants to catch every single tear drop, all the ones that are falling and all the ones that should have fallen but never did - not so that they can be bottled up again like Yixing does but so that Jongin can show the world: these are Yixing’s dreams. This one is for Yixing breaking his back, this is for every ache for home, this is for every ounce of pressure he’s put on himself. Okay so I just quoted random parts that were sooo moving/pretty..but omg way to take a happy moment and turn it depressing..typical..JKJKJK Omg this is so cute and ofc, you know how much I love the

Urgh, bullying is a touchy and emotional subject but I had to put it in here because it's one more piece of "emotional baggage" (if you will) that holds Lay down while he's chasing after a dream and one more thing that keeps him grounded to his dreams. But more importantly, it probably did happen to Lay. Since he's Chinese, you know :/ And because I feel like Kris most likely didn't get bullied because he's just so freaking tall and Tao didn't because he looks like he'll kill you if you do and Luhan didn't (well, maybe a little?) because he could pass for Korean and/or he's really friendly and open. Lay has a friendly personality too but idk :/ This is, of course, just speculation, but this is one of the many things I imagined Lay was thinking of when he cried while watching the video of EXO-M's history at the awards ceremony.

I kinda have to agree with you on the bullying thing. Lay doesn't seem like the social butterfly like Luhan is, nor is he tall and/or scary like Kris or Tao. He's kind of..a dork..lol well at least in pre-debut XD But now I'm imagining some KrisLay fic where Kris protected Lay from the bully-trainees...I'm crazy and really should be doing work.

this was so lovely!! the Jongin and Yixing dynamics are so believable.
Although, Kai did hug Lay when M was on their way up the stage. But, what I noticed with the fancam was that Kai gave congratulatory pats on the back for the rest of Exo-M but Lay got a hug. Plus! His message to Lay in the Sina live chat!! Dunno, all these things are just more proof that they're closer to each other than what we know. So I love how your story gives them a history. I reason why they're so close, even though not many people know or realize it. Because it's their secret. Whatever they went through during training is the foundation of their friendship the world has yet to know about and I'm really glad this fic kind of tackles the bts of it!

Well, this is the fancam I watched. You can see the MCs announcing the winner of the award and the kailay hug happens while EXO-M are walking down to the stage. So are you talking about this one or was there another hug that I'm not aware of??? (IF SO, LINK PLEASE!) But yeah, Kai did only give pats to the other M members but fully hugged Lay :3 (But to be fair, Lay hugged Sehun and Chanyeol too... D:). Oh god I freaked out so much when I watched Kai's message to Lay in the Sina interview. So adorable. "Hyung, saranghaeyo!" = I died

That Sina interview... I mean... I dunno, the other members practically let Kai have Lay to send a message to! Lol. But I don't know about the relationship of all the members of Exo-M and Exo-K with each other, so who knows? But Kai and Lay have that dancer bond. I dunno how else to call it. But it's special!

....If Exot12 gets a variety show, though. That'd be great, we'd see for real who's really close to who! lol

Whenever they send messages to each other in interviews, they're usually paired off like Luhan/Sehun, Kris/Chanyeol, Tao/Baekhyun, Chen/Suho, Xiumin/D.O, and Kai/Lay but this time around Suho mixed things up by choosing to send his message to Kris lol (SUHO WHY YOU BREAK UP MY KRISYEOL /shakes fist). Which is why I feel like this time around, Kai wasn't predetermined to pick Lay (and you can kinda see it when he stops and gives it some thought when he was asked who he was going to leave a message to) but he still did anyway. And then when he said that he picked Lay, I noticed all the other K members snickered in the background. I don't know what to make of that, tbh. Do they know something about Kai and Lay? lol. It would have been interesting to see if Kai went first, if he would still pick Lay.

Kai and Lay do have a dancer bond. It is very, very special :)

haha i actually only read a few pairings. kailay being one of them because somehow they feel real to me. (the dancer friendship imo, because i dance too.)
