You're right--this isn't a fluffy piece of perfectness. It is a sticky piece of PAIN.

I can't...there are no words. You've hit on something hard and specific and true to the characters. Often, I only remember the wacky fun of Alice, forgetting that the characters are quite broken. You've distilled that down brilliantly. I think I sympathize with feelings that Alice just can't get out, and the way you show those feelings turning is just...it feels real.

It's truly a different portrayal of the pair. I like it, though I kind of view Alice as less hidey-holed up, but there must have some getting there - to opening up. I keep forgetting the getting there part.

I'm going to need a happy ending, because this almost made me cry.
